These are service and repair manuals. Not the operator manual. Or the owners manual as you called it. The owners manual is accessible through the in car touch screen or via your Tesla account, which is required to order a vehicle. These are at no cost.

You're giving them way too much credit. It's 2022 and Teslas are rocking navigation software from 2014. In general, in-car software is pretty trash compared to more modern solutions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Even more, Tesla sucks at quality control and customer service. So way behind in software, qc, and cs…three of the hardest things to get right. The legacy car makers can easily bridge the battery tech gap from other vendors.

A lot of Teslas owners are more EV fans than Tesla fans and many will jump ship once real competitors arrive. At this point (true EVs account for less than 4% of US sales), there just isn't enough incentive for the legacy carmakers to go hard on the EV sector.
They have too soon as in California ICE brand new car sell will be banned in 2030 to no later 2035. CA owns a large share of cars sold in the US.

https://www.carscoops.com/2021/09...d-to-2030/

Toyota and Honda is late to the EV games. GM and Ford might make it thru but will lost a big share of their car market and will no make large profit of over $6K or more. I think even Toyota making the largest profit is only about $7,000. Tesla is near 33% profit.

"Tesla said the margin on its cars was 32.9 percent." It it was like $16K avg profit per a Tesla vehicle.

On my 2nd Tesla. The navigation is excellent tbh Routing with super charger network is just icing on the cake. Tesla in car software is generations ahead of anything other manufacturers can offer currently. One of the best in class sound systems, streaming and software updates are on another level.
I will consider other brands if they offer something compelling. So far nothing of value and available within a reasonable time frame.
All other cars are a compromise in some form or another. I like the Ioniq5, but first iteration. Already quite a few issues. Hopefully will get sorted out in a few years.
Ford's mustang is a non-starter
VW ID4 does not have enough range, nor does the Toyota/Subaru joint venture.

I'm interested in seeing how the Rivian pans out.

Yeah no idea what the other guy was saying. Tesla navigation is extremely good and FAST. Probably the fastest navigation I've ever used from type in to start driving. It's auto look up is extremely good. I find it much much faster to get started on my way vs my Ioniq 5 having to use Apple CarPlay.

Do you actually own a Tesla or just a random opinion?

Why should this cost in the first place?
Would think most manufacturers charge for this information. It's meant for auto repair shops.
