I bought a refurb from the Acer store last year. Has been rock solid and looked brand new. There was a 20% off refurb coupon at the time, plus some cashback (not SD).

The free 2-year Allstate warranty is a nice touch.

It was missing the hard drive expansion bracket, but that was $12.

Solid deal for a basic laptop.

8GB soldered. Add up to a 16GB stick to get to 24GB.

I use touch screen instead of the TouchPad as I struggle with carpal tunnel syndrome. Touching is less taxing on my wrist compared to clicking on the touch pad.

I have bought many refurb acer laptops.

In each case, they looked and worked like new.

Once I got one with a charger that had a broken tip on it. Opened a ticket with them on a Sunday, and 2 days later received a replacement charger. Exceptional service, but I probably just got really lucky.

I thought "refurbished" technically means the package has been opened, the item is unused and somehow buyer decided to return it. If it's already used, then it should be classified as "used" or "pre-owned". I guess in this case, the laptop is actually pre-owned?
Refurbished and preowned are nowadays used interchangeably, and yes generally means "used". Exceptions are Dell Outlet, Apple Outlet, which are usually "as new"

I've found an article below that should answer your query.

A refurb can be pre-owned and used to some degree and still be in "like new" condition. If someone bought something new and opened the box, in most cases they used it for a period of time before it was returned. Where do you see in the listing something that leads you to believe these items are not lightly used returns that have minimal use?

Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Manufacturer refurbs are better than no name refurbs and its backed by a 2 year warranty, but idk how easy claiming the warranty is. This looks to be the best value laptop I see atm.

I do tend to buy refurb gear as they are generally better value, and sometimes refurb chromebooks are stupid cheap for decent specs, like $90-120, which is another great value option if this is more laptop than needed.

Eh I was going to bite on this but I do not believe the keyboard is backlit, which is so lame - see here - https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/con....A25AA.002 and here https://www.pcworld.com/article/6...price.html

I do not think this version is backlit....Frown
