Good price for the s33. I bought one for my home when it was last on sale for $149 during BF 2021. It has worked wonderfully without any problems. I upgraded my internet briefly to an unlimited gigabit service, and after a mildly entertaining week of downloading 120 TB of Linux isos I realized that I really didn't have any practical need for a 1 GB connection and downgraded it. I was pleasantly surprised and kind of amused to find out that I was only charged for a prorated 10 days for the gigabit service, essentially just giving myself a temporary speed boost, which is a pretty neat thing to be able to do when needed.

The s33 was a big upgrade from my 2 year old Motorola DOCSIS 3.0 modem, not just in its potential speed, but the eight channel connection significantly improved the quality of my internet service. My area often has issues with signal/line noise on connection to the local node during inclement weather. Unfortunately that often caused some of the channels to drop and forces the modem to remodulate, but this modem seems to be able to compensate much better for the interference. Even though I don't have gigabit service anymore, the improvement to the quality of the connection was well worth the purchase.
Amazon just price matched this at 145 also.

Good deal. Confirmed this works with Optimum in NY. Took me one short call to get them to add the modem on their end, and I've had no issues since in 5+ months.

You have to trade in a device to get the coupon before your next purchase, which is where the coupon can then be applied.

You can use pretty much any networking device for the trade-in, a super old Wi-Fi thumb drive, a old cable modem, an old router that you found at a garage sale, a PCI networking card from the late 1990s, whatever. I used a 4-port 1 megabit networking hub that i bought at a garage sale for $0.25 👍

I think I'm gonna give this a shot. Could anyone recommend a router to go with this for a 2600 sq ft single story home? My ISP is xfinity thanks.

Imo, the S33 is better for performance. Some of the key features are that it has two ethernet output ports and has six times the on board ram as the MB8661. (The Motorola does have some perks that you might be interested in if you have a specific need.)

The s33 supports up to 2.5gbit, and the Motorola supports up a theoretical 6gbit. I don't think that's really a big factor because 5Gwireless home modems or fiber will probably be available Loooong before even 2gb Internet is offered over cable/coax. The cable companies are just too farking cheap/greedy and want to keep bleeding people dry with the infrastructure that they already have in place.

Is there any way to use this while keeping VOIP phone access through the cable company?

Works just as well.
This price is a rip off
Dream on. Maybe the SB8200 but not the S33.
