My guess is they're just clearing excess stock of the watch and phone. The Flip3 was announced/released in August of 2021 and there are a ton of rumors pointing to the Google Watch being released in the next couple months.
Thanks for sharing - It's still a great phone/watch combo.
If say just upgrading the phone on Existing TMO line. . .no need to activate the phone with the sim card attached to the box. In fact, keep that sim, as you can use it at a later time on any line. Please practice discretion, and take the phone out of the box and smudge it up a bit before returning the only the actual phone for trade, and hopefully at the next closest store if possible (if not trying it out for a few days for funzies with your old sim card first)
I have verizon.Yeah I did upgrade am gonna pick up the phone on my way home from work then trade in to the bb out where I live
Yeah, to get activate now price you will have to activate now. Works well for people with existing postpaid account. If not, sign up for new postpaid account then cancel the plan. PIF and the phone is yours so
Not necessarily the phone itself needs to be activated. For TMO at least, on existing account, BB just needs to get phone activated to the account to make it happen. That is done automatically when the phone is ready for pickup, before you get to the store. Most people can just leave the store with the sim card attached to the box. . .take the phone out of box while heading to the next store, and just hand the smudged phone over for trade in.
Will say it again, just looks bad to hand a sealed box over to the same store/rep that you just picked the phone up from to accomplish the same thing. . .as in the above scenario, you are getting credit for activating phone to account, but BB probably losing out on at least some of the upgrade subsidy from TMO. . .and you are rubbing their face in it. . .

I have asked before but what do you think my odds are for stacking the $800 trade in credit but instead of buying the $799 Unlocked Flip3, purchase the $499 verizon Flip3... would depend on the rep right?
In your opinion... I have a Xs Max and a iPhone SE (1st gen) laying here, looking to turn them into $800 in GC for an iPhone. Seems there are a few ways of doing it, ranging from $99-$300ish. I have never done one of these deals. Lots of what-ifs at play like would the rep take two phones for the promo TIV or as mentioned above... Get $400 TIV for the Xs Max and apply it for the Verizon Flip3. I don't want to walk in and make a you-know-what out of myself. I want things to go smooth for everyone, and I would never open the box in the store and do a return etc, just asking for trouble. Thanks lol. Nervous at the moment, store opens in less than 8 hours. Honestly excited too!
So I suddenly see the unlocked S22 Ultra on sale with TMO activation today for $949. Can I really go in store and get $800 with the flip 3 on trade or are they going to try to go off the 1199 pricing?

Some reps may consider activating an unlocked device on a carrier for the discount as buying a locked phone, which is wrong. Your theory is sound. Flip 3 w/ $800 TIV applied to a S22 Ultra should work as you are going for the Unlocked version, the discount for activating today is a separate thing you should be eligible for. I would give it a 100% shot if I was in your shoes.

You are trying to do several deals to get to the $800 TIV in the end. Most of them skirting the rules and or with loopholes, and then some. Beyond a causal question. . .please read this thread and the former deal from last week of the same sans watch, and you will come up with a plan. Search here for thread "T-Mobile ZF3 $100 arbitrage"
I don't mean to be a butt, but what you are asking is the culmination of these entire two threads. . . . .

Where are you coming from? Even unlocked phones can have prices cheaper for activate now vs activate later. Doesn't mean the phones are locked, just means you bothered to attach it to your account, even if for only a few minutes (and I don't even mean by you, but by BB when order is fulfilled), to get a cheaper price (and supposedly the retailer gets a bigger cut as well to offset price). Obviously if same price activate now/later choose activate later, but by no means does activate now on an unlocked phone mean the phone is carrier locked if paid in full
That discount from the activate now vs later is coming from TMO, for instance. . .separate from the $800 Samsung TIV promo part for that same phone purchase. . .so if activate now is cheaper, go with it without worries.

Yeah its a huge cluster of ideas at this point, I've skimmed both of the threads and everything is riding on a bunch of maybe(s) here and there. Probably best to see what the mobile rep says in the am and work from there. I'll provide a detailed summary when and if all said is done.

I just got my flip 3 delivered today in the mail. I upgraded one of my T-Mobile lines to get it for $500 plus tax, and then the watch for $50.
Can I just open it, rub it up a little, and trade it in for $800 credit towards the s22 ultra?
How does tmobile play into this? Is it already activated on my plan? They just gave me The phone still sealed In box with sim not in it.
Also, can I activate the s22 on that same line I just activated the flip3 with when I ordered it online?

good luck. It's harder trying to start the chain with a double trade on the Sammy unlocked TIV Promo towards a TMO phone. . .don't forget about possible watch net sell value and possible tax savings by ordering online going the TMO route from the beginning, if the above doesn't pan out. Wont' be the same, but might not be toooooo much more

Yeah, I am considering that option, it works out way easier. I have a T-Mobile business account under my SSN, which will cause a system error when I setup a personal account under the same SSN for this phone judging off what I have read online. The less steps the better in these cases, totally agree.
