TBW means Terabytes Written, and is not a speed rating, for anyone who may not know. It is an endurance rating, and 100 is extremely low.

Microcenter has their Inland Professional for $165 with a TBW of 600, meaning it is engineered to handle approximately 6x more data transferred.

The Inland Premium 2TB is $190 with a TBW of 3200! 32x the endurance of this model.

Similar price/performance ratio can be found with other brands if you don't have a Microcenter nearby.

I like WD, but why not spend a few more $$$ to get the SN770? 100TBW is extremely low for a 2TB drive. This is basically just for storage. It will take a while to hit 100TBW, but that isn't giving you a lot of endurance.

Here is a TBW calculator for those interested.

While 100TBW is really low, that doesn't mean it will fail earlier or is even more likely. Lowering the probability of returns means it can be sold for a lower cost.

There are some use cases this would be fine. Like a light usage computer.

100 tbw would be good enough for the majority of people who use desktops/laptops before it is outdated.

Just because you would actually exceed that doesn't mean the 75%+ other users will.

I though I was able to download more TBW, just like extra RAM.

Like a lot of other people have pointed out, this is a very brittle and nvme. 100tbw is EXTREMELY low for a 2tb drive.

Just for comparison, the crucial p5 2tb CT2000P5SSD8 has 1,200TBW, I bought a few on Amazon for $149(each) earlier this month. It goes on sale fairly often.

Compared to that, this drive might as well be storing data on an etch a Sketch.

An okay price for the capacity, but a -very- bad value because it isn't going to last. 👎

Edit: How in the world did this make it to the frontpage? 🤔
Buying this nvme is like buying a car at normal price, except the wheels start randomly falling off after you reach 20,000 miles.
