A hybrid bicycle combines the features of a road bike with a the more upright riding position of a mountain or fitness bike.

A road bike with dropped handle bars and multiple gears and narrow tires is good for longer distances and higher speeds, but the bars and tires are not so good for some city traffic or uneven terrain.

So, combining flat bars and multiple gears on medium size tires is a good idea for commuters or fitness types.

Just a general statement about steel bike frames. The weight difference between a good steel vs good alloy frame isn't much. Not that this is likely a good frame. However, it may not be all that heavy and weight isn't always end all be all.

Steel frames can be more flexible than an aluminum frame which can result in better ride quality. My old steel frame cheep bike actually road over bumps better than my alloy fully rigid mtb. It was certainly heavier but ride quality was superior despite being a cheap big box bike vs my good bike store mtb.

I wouldn't avoid this bike just because the frame is steel. It might be a decent college campus bike for the price.

Thank you for letting us all know that we can get a better bike by paying double or triple the price of this one.

This bike is perfectly fine for casual riding around the neighborhood. Not everyone needs an expensive bike.

Mix of steer and mount bike. But the steel frame is a big turn off. Unnecessary extra weight.

HEAVY steel frame. I got this for 154$ last year and immediately returned back from the parking lot due to heaviness. Also bike mounting frame may only hold up to certain weight. Check that too.

Don't you mean disc "brake" (singular)? Oddly enough, only the front wheel has a disc brake.

after buying the hybrid from costco which i love... i decided i need a mountain bike for the trails because hybrids come with narrow tires so now i have a bike for road and mountain

I thought was a steal too but the right rear brakes did not work properly, it was on the heavy side and the front gears did not go to highest one. I'm wondering if it was installed properly or not. I rode one time to the park, which had inclines and had to return as I knew it was not worth it. I'm going to get a more expensive quality hybrid bike.
