1. check MB support

Any recommendations on cheap mobo? Will this work with 2133mhz ram? Ikr it will be slower but will it work stable?

This paired with an ASRock AM4 DeskMini A300 (ancient at this point but still a nice little box) and 3200mhz sodimms is a nice little system. I have a 5700g in mine which is prob OP. This should be quite similar performance. Currently playing Bioshock 1 Remastered at 4k (Free from epic) on mine. Think I first played that on PS3, can't remember. While my actual gaming rig sits off in another room with an RX6800

edit: figured I should qualify. this is still an APU so while everything is maxed, vsync is on at 30fps on a cheap TV. Heavy gaming occurs elsewhere.

There aren't any stability issues running slower RAM at it's rated speeds.. Just keep in mind that if you're utilizing the IGP in any ways, that your RAM speed plays a significant role in integrated graphics performance.

Yes but Still most GPU's cost more than this CPU. All depends on what you want to do with it.. I have a board and memory just waiting, but I also have Staples and OD/OM rewards. Now if either ever Stock this or the 5600X I will PM and burn up rewards.

Yeah, for someone who doesn't need the PC for gaming it's a reasonable choice.

I have an i7-4790k+32gb RAM.
The fact that MS is forcing me to upgrade a perfectly fine $700 rig for nongaming is a travesty.
I hope someone ports Win11 to older systems, or I may need to look at Ubuntu or a hackintosh.
Realistically, my setup could run for another 10+ years for what I do.

You can clean install windows 11, no need to port

PCIe 3.0 only, which will be an issue for next gen GPU's (4.0 is the norm now, and 5.0 is on 12th gen and Zen 4). Also performance is worse than the 5600/x and 12400/f both are $200 CPU's.

Dont buy this unless you dont plan on using a dGPU.

If youre not gaming just get an i3-12100. $100 CPU, plenty fast for general use/office/etc, has an IGP, supports PCIe 4.0&5.0

Good APU (CPU+iGPU) imo, especially if you got a compatible motherboard laying around.

didn't realize 12100 is so fast now. it's plenty of horse power to do regular office work. even some medium programming work.
