Hi,
the TH50 mini PC currently has a $70 discount on the Minisforum.com store. Shipping is free.
The special feature of this MiniPC is that it supports Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps), so you can use it for a variety of tasks. You could even connect a external GPU to it.
Also it has two 2.5 gigabit Ethernet ports, so it's also suited for server applications.

8K display resolution supported
Thunderbolt™ 4

Should work great for Plex, but your could also likely get by with something cheaper.

Based on the specs, I would assume so. Since it has an Intel processor, you can use hardware transcoding (Intel QuickSync) which should be capable of 10+ transcodes. You do need Plex pass to use hardware transcoding though.

I’m running my Plex server on an old 8th Gen i5 NUC and it’s kept up very well. The main bottleneck of my server is my crappy internet. The only other inconvenience I can think of is that you’d likely have to use external storage if you’re planning on having more than 2ish TB of data on Plex.

Be aware of not accidentally use the AC of the unit as a regular USB charger. Besides of being type C its not USB compliant and will fry any device you insert it to.
It's been this price at Minisforum.com for at least a month, but for those with Amazon prime and an Amazon CC, it's $416.49 there with the 5% back:
https://www.amazon.com/DeskMini-W...B09ZTTKLGG

ETA: That has "Minisforum" in the image, but this is Coofun branded now that I look at it. I'm unsure if Coofun is a rebrand or they're both rebrands of a different brand. It looks like the Minisforum Store link is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZTX23ZG, but it's $509.
Many of the Chinese small PCs have these power supplies. It really sucks as it makes them both dangerous and proprietary.

This unit looks pretty nice. Ive been in the market for a mini PC. I planned on getting an HP Elitedesk Mini when one pops up on Ebay for a good price, but this unit might fit the bill. The only downside I see is the RAM is soldered on the board. Anyone know of a similar unit with user replacement RAM?

Which Ryzen 5 specifically? The Passmark comparison I'm looking at suggests a different story: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/comp...3403vs4593

thanks. That 6-core Ryzen (with nearly double the TDP) is a whole different story!

Depends on what you need it to do. You saw the Lenovo Thinkcentre for $480ish here on SD?

Nearly same price as this one and only slightly bigger. Too bad it sold out.

I read some reviews that state Miniforum pcs have a locked BIOS. Is this true? Anyone have experience with them?
