edit2: you get a free month with every 3 month redemption by leaving "auto renew" checked so it's 4 month per key. You only need 9 keys. Once redeemed, gamepass upgrade is $1. $8.70*9+1 = $80 for 3 years of gamepass FTW

My expired gamepass is now valid thru 5/28/25

edit3: the $1 upgrade to gamepass may be dependent on how long yours was expired. Mine was expired since march and i got the $1 promo. Friend's was expired earlier this month and he's getting the $14.99 price to upgrade

This is the way I did it (New gamepass/xbox live member):

1. Purchased 9x three month codes.

2. Went to https://account.microsoft.com/bil...xcom&rtc=1 (redeem code link from within my Microsoft account services once signed in) and entered each of the 9 codes one by one. After hitting redeem on each code, it gave me a prompt to turn on auto-renew to get a month free (confirmed redemption with auto-renew on for each of the 9 codes, no need to turn off auto-renew after each).

3. Once I redeemed all codes, then I went under the 'Services & subscriptions' section in my Microsoft account and above the Xbox Live subscription section there was an upgrade to game pass ultimate (GPU).

4. Clicked the option and it took me to the xbox site to buy GPU showing a discounted rate of $1 (down from $14.99).

5. Clicked through checkout and a prompt came up showing that all my xbox live gold months (up to 36) will be upgraded to GPU for $1 total. Confirmed payment method to charge $1 and voila. Next renewal 5/28/2025.

This is the way that worked for me.

What do you mean about bonus 20 days? Are you talking about using Xbox Live Gold codes on existing GPU subscriptions? 3 months XBL Gold is supposed to convert to 50 days of GPU normally.

Also the best deals on GPU always involve letting it expire, stack up on XBL Gold codes and then reconvert into GPU again (around $3 per month).

You get 50 days instead of standard 1 month conversion with this deal. So what I mean is whether it will stay at 50 days or will it go back to being only 1 month (30 days) only once this promotion is over. Are these codes hard-coded to always give you 50 days say in 6 months down the line when you use it again.

Like I said before, 3 month XBL Gold codes normally give 50 days of GPU, it's not a promotional thing. See the conversion chart in the FAQ linked below (under "After I join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, can I still redeem Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass codes?").

My GPU doesn't expire until June 1st funny enough. Would I be okay buying a few codes and holding off a few days before using them to redeem at their full 3 months (4 with reoccurring billing obviously)?

OK, I have Xbox Ultimate (GPU) and it expires June 9th. Can I buy 16 of these (36 month total) and add them now or do I have to wait till unlimited is over, add them and sign up again for $14.99 and it will make all 36 months unlimited? With CD keys can I buy them now and wait to use them or should they be used ASAP. I've heard their keys are not always 100% reliable.

Probably better to let your GPU expire, then redeem codes and upgrade to Ultimate. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I've bought steam game keys on cdkeys that were later rejected by steam saying they were bought with stolen credit cards. I would not recommend buying on cdkeys again.

happy to see the price fall back, wonder why they raised it in the first place. extended my GPU a year and now expires in May 09 2025, gives me a piece of mind, wonder when MS is going to cut these promotions because GPU is such an incredible deal.

Existing GPU users should let GPU membership expire, then use these codes for XBL Gold, then do the $1 GPU upgrade hack that converts all the months to GPU. In the past (a couple years ago) it didn't matter if you already had GPU, I guess they revised that.
Yea mine is in September and I'm debating if I want to hold onto codes that long or just wait for the next deal…
