Picked these up when this sale came around a couple of years ago. This thing is wicked fast (8 speeds) and super quiet. Never shakes at high speeds like some Chinese fans. One annoying bit is that it beeps every time you turn it on or change speeds which is annoying if someone is sleeping In the room. Using the low profile mount, it hangs close to the ceiling which makes the room feel a bit bigger. Is it worth $550? Probably not. But it's really well built.
Additional $100 for the Wi-Fi module is robbery. I got smart Wemo switches instead.

Thx for the review! I'm a fan of their products, seem well made & unique. Plan on using several of their products in my upcoming build. May I ask what WiFi switches you used? I'm all about saving money where I can.

I used Wemo switches when I built my house. As long as you have good Wi-Fi around the house you won't have issues. Automating "good night" or "I'm home" routines with Siri or google is pretty cool. I also have the home/Wemo app turn on the fans at the hottest times of the day in the summer, patio lights at night, and vacation mode when I leave. Also the dimming capabilities are nice. I only go 100% when I'm working and dim significantly closer to bed time. Wirecutter has some other recs for best light switch nowadays so I would check that out. One downside to Wemo is that the switch emits some light which is notable in a blackout dark room at night.
Modern Forms smart fans are about half the cost and are comparable to Big Ass Fans quality - DC motor, energy efficient, LED built in, and wifi module is included - not extra. The Zephyr fan looks similar too: https://www.lumens.com/zephyr-led...64966.html

I did always feel Big Ass Fans seemed overpriced for the Haiku. I'll do some reading on the zephyr. Thanks.
I have two Haikus and just bought the Haiku L. What I like about them (the regular version, not the L) is the integration with my Ecobee thermostat and the SenseMe technology. I tell the fan I like the room temperature 70 degrees. If it gets more than that, the fan comes on to cool it down without calling for AC. When the AC does come on, the fan knows and starts up to help circulate. This saves energy in the summer and fall.
Also, no noise and no wobble and the air movement is superior to other fans I have in the house.

The beep can be disabled in the app settings btw
No way! Do you need the Wi-Fi module?
