My recent experience moving from series x to pc was illuminating. I thought I'd notice a difference between my ultrawide 60Hz and 2k 165Hz (both IPS) with fps capped at the native resolution, If I notice anything it's the immersion of the ultrawide.
I haven't played many multiplayer games but so far struggling to get mobility with keys in apex. Im sure I'll notice it more when I get used to playing at 165hz

Capping it may actually result in more choppiness unless you have vsync on. The idea of higher refresh is also to lower latency, but if your game swaps buffers right after vsync you will add an extra frame's worth of latency.
