Last time I ordered a "refurb" 980 Pro, I got sent someone 970 Evo. They don't look very closely at these drives when they are reselling them.

It works both ways. I ordered a 980 Pro and received an additional 980 Reg, so I got 2 drives for $105. I was very pleased.

I like the 970 evo 1tb for 79.99 unless you are transferring files all day speed difference is null in gaming etc.

Be aware of these refurbished Best Buy "Certified Geek Squad" . My experience with the my 980 Pro 1 Tb was a horror story. I ran Crystal Disk Mark to see how much data was written and MY HOLY COW it was 250 TB written data. I know it might last me a whole life time, but I paid 130+ tax at that time. Not worth. Maybe you'll be lucky as some other users had reported only a few TB was written data on their drive.

haha, is 980 PRO 1TB has 600 TBW? They should just charge $60 as $104 * (600-250)/600.

This is why I run Crystal Disk check on every refurbished ssd from Best Buy within 14 days return window. If it's written more than 5TB I just bring them back.

I don't know about Best Buy refurbished but got a 2TB evo 970 used on Amazon "good" for like 135ish a while back had 5 boots less than about 1.5TB written and I registered with Samsung and had 4.5 years left on warranty. Not sure prices on used 980 pro but was pretty solid deal.

Technically yes, however the PS5 specific model includes a heatsink. You wouldn't want to use this without the heatsink.

My experiences have been very positive, basically brand new drives, couple GB written, single digit power cycle. It's BB, returns couldn't be easier. I'd be tempted to suggest one buy two just in case and return the heavily used one if there is.

Yes, I have this exact drive in my PS5. You just need to get a heatsink as well. I got mine on Amazon, followed the directions for installation that came with it. Pretty simple. Here's a link to the heatsink I used:
