Walmart has several Decathlon bikes on sale. Decathlon makes aluminum-frame bikes and is a reputable brand. It's hard to find a decent aluminum-frame bike at this price.

Multiple sizes and models available. Free shipping.

I know very little about department store bikes (Target, Walmart etc), but the dimensions listed say 48 inch height assembled. If that is ground to base or even the top of seat, it seems very very tall. I have a 20 year old bike store bike bought just to have an extra large frame and it is not even 43".

So for anyone who knows, what are they actually measuring?

I just noticed they have multiple sizes of the ST-50 and the ST-100, including Extra Large, but all of them show the same dimension for height assembled or 48". So are they just careless in the listings? And as above, just what are they measuring?

Seems like none of the commenters have any experience with these bikes. I do not either, but to me the value seems pretty good compared to other bikes in the price range. I can't speak to the quality, but the components seem to be a step up from equivalent bikes at Walmart. The 2-year parts warranty is solid too — assuming they honor it.

Still expensive for what it is. Seems like bunches of people want to spend around $150 to buy a problem.

Decent AL bike & price, just wished there wasn't suspension fork, making it a nice commuter bike.

I don't know much about bike. But recently I got a Decathlon ST100 from Walmart on-sale $198 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Decathlon-Rockrider-ST100-21-Speed-Mountain-Bike-27-5-Unisex-Red-Medium/4... [walmart.com]... To me it's a good one, comparing with Schwinn bikes in the same price range. I use for neighborhood ride :-)

Does this use standard parts so that you could just buy a decent shimano derailleur and new shift levers in a year when they stop working nicely? Or are 3x7 drivetrain components pretty much extinct and you'd end up having to replace everything? Over a 5 year span buying a decent bike would probably be cheaper and give you more enjoyment, but some people don't want to plunk down $500+ right off the bat.

I purchased this exact bike, and have had to swap it multiple times (we are currently on the 3rd one). I will be returning it shortly after I find a replacement. It was a present for my now 13 year old, and was not even ridden on trails or had rough handling. It was just used as a city bike to ride with friends. We've had the chain pop off the gears multiple times, grinding gears, and my personal favorite has been on two different bikes the break line popped off the handle controls from simply squeezing the break control too hard. Do not buy this bike.

I was pretty close to grabbing one of these Walmart bikes or similar recently. There was a well-loved local bike shop on the way, so I decided why not, I'll stop by just in case. When I outlined my situation, they immediately confirmed that yeah, nothing they carry new would work—but directed me to a handful of used bikes they were selling. They'd already given them a look over and cleaned them up and replaced anything broken. Prices were mostly higher than Walmart or Target bikes, but not much. And they were high quality bikes that sold for $1000+ new. I walked away with a really cool vintage Italian bike I'm really happy with that was actually a bit less than the Target bike I was thinking of getting.

Just something to consider for anyone looking at these bikes.

Ps. The employee who helped me at the bike shop talked about working for and building the bikes sold at Walmart and the low quality control. Of course he's biased and would say something like that, but I bring it up to say: if you do buy a Walmart or Target etc bike, please give it a good look over and take it slow/near home once or twice before doing much more with it. Just to be sure no steps were skipped and you don't get hurt. I do feel there's a market for these cheap big-box bikes, but be cautious and aware of what you're buying.

If you want a 26" wheel bike with no disc brakes. just find a 80-90's rock hopper on CL. It will last almost forever. Reddit has a good page, called xbiking. There are some cool bikes on there.

It says "Large" in the listing
