I had a similar audio issue of going in and out as well.

Not sure if my issue is the same as yours but I changed the HDMI cable to a monoprice branded HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) cable and it seem to have solved my audio cutting out issue over eARC with my LG C1.
I'd take Yamaha over Onkyo any day of the week for an AV receiver.

Good to see AVR prices coming back down to earthSmilie I always prefer Yamaha over Denon and Onkyo but wasn't a fan of the TSR-700 after spending a month with it. Grabbed a used Onkyo to get me by until Yamaha releases a new model.

Curious, what are the wrongs with this receiver? I am in a market for one. I been out the a/v for so long that not sure what to look for any more.

i have the onkyo TX-NR6050 and dolby atmos doesn't work properly. audio keeps going in and out on my 2022 lg oled tv over eARC. looks like it is a common issue. how does the denon fair compared the onkyo?

went through 2 tsr-700's, nothing but issues with eARC.

bought the Onkyo, hoping it'll be better.

Don't think any of the 3 costco options are great bulletproof receivers.

That's too bad. I bought a tsr7850 and it's been amazing other than being a bit dated.

i don't think so. but i don't use the hdmi for video output anyway. it complicates things and handshake with the tv is a bit finicky which forces me to keep an extra remote nearby.
i connect all HDMI to the tv directly and audio to eARC only.

even with eARC only, I still have audio cutting in and out all the time.

Is the UI still user not-so-friendly? I was extremely disappointed with the early versions interface. The 7850 was so responsive.

I bought this last year to replace an Onkyo that was a pain from the second I bought it (I didn't learn my lesson, my first Onkyo failed twice and was repaired by Onkyo out of warranty as part of avoidance of a class action suit).

I had the old faulty HDMI chip, but I went through the replacement process, was without the receiver for a few days and it has been rock solid, before and after. Won't ever remotely consider another Onkyo unless it comes free to me.

I don't know, there's still lots of fairly recent reviews on Costco and comments in threads that people are getting units with HDMI issues. It looks like it's a great performer if you get one that's good but even then you see a lot of reports of issues developing down the line. Would have been my personal pick of the three but I just don't have any faith in the unit after reading through owners threads for all three Costco units.

Sadly, that does seem to be the case and most of what I've read seems to be tied back to new features like HDMI 2.1 or VRR. At least we get the easier to deal with route if you do draw the short straw.
