I built a deck with this set, no problems whatsoever.

This set is great for the price. Since I bought this set 2ish years ago, I rarely use my 18v Makita stuff for small projects around the house. Lighter and easier to carry/maneuver with. You aren't going to build a deck with this set, but that isn't what you buy this set for. This is the set I always recommend for coworkers/friends wanting a first set

Great kit. Never pay more than $99 for this. Not because it's not worth it, it's probably worth every penny of the retail price, but because it reliably hits $99 at least 3-4 times a year.

IMO, no. Use that $50 elsewhere.

I disagree. Brushless will perform better and more reliably long-term. Worth it if you're starting your tool collection. This is a decent kit but I prefer the Milwaukee M12 Fuel line which has been $120-150 on sale for similar tools.

That said, this is fine for $99 and if someone is just screwing stuff in or drilling a couple holes a year then I can see brushless not mattering. Just depends on use case.

I would be in for one if I didn't already have three of these sets two regular and one brushless. I keep one in my truck and one in my tool bag and one in my tool chest in the garage. They are indispensable

I have this set - I think I got it for $89 a few years ago.

Overall it's very good for the average homeowner. I'd consider myself an intermediate-advanced DIYer and it gets through everything I need (sometimes a little slowly but thats ok for the price). It's also relatively compact so you can get it under cabinets/sinks etc nicely.

The only issue I have is that the chuck on the drill is not the most secure - I find that it does loosen occasionally if I don't tighten it down perfectly. I have a separate Milwaukee drill that doesn't have this issue, but its slightly heavier so I still use the Bosch most of the time.

If all you need to do is hang a few pictures or put together furniture, this unit is more than capable.

Agreed. I have this kit as well. Only complaint is the batteries stopped taking a charge pretty early on. I got one replaced under the warranty. When the other went bad I bought an after market one for $20 or so.

I love this very capable pairing! For me, they are so comfortable to use with a weight and balance plus small size that are hard to beat at this price point. I also bought one of the 12V FlexiClick versions of the drill and use it all the time for cabinet installations where close-quarter offset drilling is required. Very ergonomic feel to me.

The battery will die before this drill dies imo.

Hey I replaced all my deck boards and railings with this set. Just predrill the holes Smilie The deck hangars and structural screws also go in fine… if you are using 4 inch thick wood

I got this set the last time it was at $99 and it's fantastic. It's completely replaced my 18v ridgid drill as my go to. It is smaller, lighter, and plenty powerful for most jobs.

Nope, if you are thinking of going brushless might as well go with Milwaukee for their expanded tool line up if you are more serious. The Bosch brushed is perfectly fine for occasional home usages. I had one until I sold it and went with the Milwaukee for the more serious works. Also, occasionally you can find a similar Milwaukee brushless kit for around similar price if you can wait it out a bit.

woops quoted the wrong person. lol sorry. 😆
