The postives are that it can do smokeless fire and the stainless steel pit can look nice.
However, it does not radiate heat well like a traditional fire pit. It is like a stove as the name implies. It radiates heat straight up and burns through a lot of wood fast. They have a VERY expensive heat deflector accessory you can buy but it still will not radiate heat like you'd expect from a fire pit.
If you are looking for fire pit to warm you, ability to look into fire/embers, and not spend money on woods -- then skip this and buy a traditional fire pit. As a slickdealer, the math of buying an expensive fire pit and burning a lot of wood with limited heat radiation killed any and all desire to ever consider solo stove.
find the solo stove offer, enter your info in the popup, then it will take you to log in to your account and add the offer. Worked for me when the other way didn't.

I got the bundle with lid, 320 -50 referral code = 270 + 27tax = 297. With the Amex offer effectively $247.
In retrospect maybe shoulda gone with firepit+stand plus handle instead, 250 + 35 - 30 = 235 + 23tax = ~258 woulda been just enough to get over the Amex limit. The lid might be OK for day to day storage, but whether it's worth the extra $40 not sure

The smokeless heat and radiation of heat are a bit of a direct trade off however. In order to burn smokeless, the stove allows for very high airflow (vertically up through the stove) to burn more efficiently; this also increases the speed with which the wood is consumed. The walls themselves have ventilation in them, adding another layer between users and the heat. As a result, you don't get as much heat radiating outward.
Unfortunately it is very difficult (maybe even impossible) to design a smokeless fire pit that radiates heat well that is also not gigantic.

The only con for me is that it eats wood like candy. Getting a 1/4 cord sets us up well for our use during the year/colder months.
Accessories aren't cheap but the stand is a must I'd say as well as the cover for bad weather.
I don't cook on my bigger fire pit because I want it to look nice and not get stains on it for as long as possible. The kids can do marshmallows on the mini stove.
It is $50 off $200. The FB listing with the 50 off in the flame works.
