I've had this thing for 5 years now. Kept it outside (with a grill cover over it) the whole time. This thing is a tank. A few years ago I accidentally rested one of the legs on an extension cord, which caused the cord to short and catch fire. This whole grill ended up going up in flames, along with my deck and the side of my house. All I did was pressure wash it and replace some of the wires and it's still going strong. I think it cooks even better than ever now. I just cooked my best brisket on it yet this past fall. I recommend this unit.

These paid reviews are really stepping up their game.

Shenanigans here..... I started a free 30 day walmart+ trial.... but apparently that's not good enough to buy this. So I paid the monthly fee... and it still doesn't let me add to cart due to "High Demand"....

Bait and switch

****EDIT***** To the people giving me thumbs down.. it's changed since I posted this. For most/all of the first day - I was unable to add to cart.

I ended up buying the "Classic" model for $400 instead because I wanted the meat probes / upgraded controller.

Camp Chef slickdeals > Pitboss any day of the week. I have both brands. Pitboss is cheaply made and doesn't hold temp as well as the camp chef. If the camp chef is still on sell on Amazon. Spend the extra 100 bucks.

Camp chefs are easier to clean with the ash trap slider. Better materials too.

Trust me, you'll want one with wifi. I've tried nearly all the pellet grills and can say you get what you pay for.vlook at the weight, then materials, the tech. Currently using a reqtec rt340 and really prefer them over other models.

I also prefer the smaller sized smokers as I rarely need to smoke more than a whole brisket or a couple butts. I hate burning through so many pellets.

That's interesting because I found the complete opposite to be true. The Camp Chef pellet grill I had was nothing but problems. Wouldn't keep a constant temp, always throwing error codes, and the blower went bad after two years. I was glad to replace it with the Pitboss I have now. Never has any issues with maintaining a constant temp. Feels much better quality than the camp chef I had.

Sure the camp chef was easier to do a quick clean out, but I prefer to do a deep clean on me pellet grill after ever few uses, that way I know I'm getting all the dust and ash so I don't get flare ups.

The classic 700 and this model are solid. I have the big brother, the 1100pro and it's been solid for 4 years now. Not a single issue. You can get their classic 700 for 327 normally at walmart.

Was wondering about that, since pellets don't allow you to make the grill as hot as gas also. Thanks

FWIW - I have a 440d2 and it's complete garbage. Will not get any hotter than 325 degrees unless you "fool" the temp probe into thinking it's colder than it is. I have talked to customer service probably a dozen times. They are great about sending you new parts to swap out (which I have spent hours doing). 2 Controllers, 4 probes. Sent 2 emails to VP of customer service - no response. I understand it's a budget grill, but it should at least function minimally. The sensor is directly above the fire pot, which is on one side of the grill. So the controller "thinks" the grill is hotter than it is. Temp check w infrared thermometer always read at least 150 degrees cooler than the controller. Completely flawed design - thing will make a good boat anchor.

I have this grill, I've had it for 2+ years. While it is a decent grill and the 5 yr warranty is nice I would not buy it again. There are definite flaws that really irk me. In fact I just replaced it with the Camp Chef deal.

You are so right!! I bought a Camp Chef Smoke Vault and it's been amazing. Holds temperature really well and very consistent cooking.

I read reviews that a strong wind could put out the flame, but haven't experienced that yet.
