I have the 4.0 version for few days now. So far, I did not see audio lag. The map lags about less then a second but it is working fine. It does take about 20 - 25 seconds to connect everytime. It does both Carplay and Android auto. The calls, audio sounds are good. I did not notice lagging during music and phone calls. However, I play music using youtube and it did freezed a couple of times. It was because I lost network connect on my phone, then it comes back working fine again. FYI, the initial set up show VW on the bluetooth but I have the Hyuandai. After the set up, it updated to Hyundai. Overall, it is work good so far.
No because CarPlay uses wifi to connect to your phone. Even official Apple wireless CarPlay in a BMW won't allow you to simultaneously use the hotspot function.
I used the coupon code: LISA
It took 15% off.

Just bought the 3 and working great. Any point to upgrade or keep as backup if these things don't last long?

It says the only requirement on the vehicle is the wired carplay. Can I use wireless Android Auto on the vehicle that has wired Carplay only like some Lexus models then?
No no no.

does this let you watch netflix and other streaming apps?
I have a jailbroken iPhone so I can run any app on carplay. From my experience with rental cars with built in wireless carplay there isn't enough bandwidth/latency to support video vs cable. There also is neglible difference USB 2.0 and USB C lightning cables for this purpose

I have the 2.0 in my wife's 2019 Santa Fe and 3.0 in my 2022 Kia Telluride SX and both work great. You can actually go into it's software and change the latency as low as 300ms. The lower the latency the less stable it is. I put ours at 500ms and it's been fantastic and snappy!

Will this work or allow you to switch between 2 phones? I carry a personal and work phone. Typically will want to use it with personal phone but there are times I need to take work calls and meetings from the car

Your USB port is always on. The best you can do is buy a usb with a switch.
I will do that thank you.

I don't think you can do that. It's like connected to the phone's Bluetooth. So you would have to disconnect from one phone and connect it to other. Imagine something like connecting multiple phones to your vehicles Bluetooth. You can have only one connection to run at a time.

Rookie question: Would it work if my car originally didn't have OEM carplay (2011 camry) but now have wired carplay (through the Alpine radio aftermarket install)?

Edit: Nvm. It looks like it definitely doesn't work with my radio (Alpine ill-W650)
These adapters work with most all CarPlay radios. It works with my Sony XAV-AX100. Originally it didn't work, then a couple years ago the CPlay2Air people emailed me to say it now works. I bought their dongle and it didn't work and support was a real hassle to deal with. I found the real answer on the macrumors forums: upgrade the firmware with a USB thumb drive. I then bought the Carlinkit 3.0 and it's a little better but eventually died on me (I suspect that was because my USB port in my other car stays on 24/7). Amazon replaced the Carlinkit since they wouldn't support their products purchased from third parties.

I bought another carlinkit 3.0 from this site recently to give to someone. I'm also in for this new one since I also have an android phone that I want to use.

These things work but you have to be expect poor support and the possibility of having to replace them annually (or even sooner). That's why I'm a fan of buying them on sale like this.

Bummer, tried to help. I was able to secure the Target one

BB one still available for store pickup in AZ
No, i definitely appreciate the heads up. I've got "back in stock" notification set up everywhere but it seems like they'll get a couple in stock and sell out again instantly. Maybe I'll just finally get around to sending my AAWireless back in under warranty and stick with that while i wait for the MA1.

You would have to do so manually on each phone. Disconnect one, connect the other. You may be able to do it from the Android Auto settings screen on your phones, but I haven't seen any kind of option to seamlessly switch between two phones.

I learned a lesson of impatience when I sprung for the resale price but luckily fate intervened and the seller didn't ship and offered a refund, next day I check this thread and check Target because of your comment. You helped me more than you know! Went back and repped.

Picked up the 3.0 previously and just got the 4.0; it worked for me.
I love my 3.0 so much, I just bought the 4.0. It works great in my GMC Yukon. Connect pretty fast most of the time, but if this connects faster and is more reliable it will be worth every penny. On a rare occasion, I need to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to connect, but not sure if that is device, GM headunjt or CarPlay. CarPlay isn't perfect, but it's damn good.
