so i dont have this model per say and this is just my personal experience but we basically got the infant car seat as it is much easier to transport a sleeping baby as you just take the whole seat out from the base. this model makes it harder to remove and carry as there is no bucket handle to carry the seat around. If you want to save money then yes you will be fine getting this model however the first 5-6 months are gonna be painful especially if you drive around with kid alot or keep them in their seat. For example, if you wanted to get groceries itd be much easier to transport an infant seat than this thing plus many of them have a shade pullover so you can cover your child. Another perk to having the infant seats is that alot of them can fit into strollers or have adapters you can purchase as most infants will not be able to sit in strollers unless it is a infant seat (heads too floppy etc). all the best and congrats. gonna be the best thing while simultaneously the worst thing to happen in your life

Still a great seat. We looked the extend to fit model when the kids were younger but now my 5 year old does great with this one and the seat belt pass-through config.

After also being disappointed in the lack of slimness, I see they have the 3-Across variant as well (16.7 in wide, they claim).

What's the difference between this seat and the deluxe from Costco for $200? Is the quality just as good? We already have a newborn seat so might return the $200 Costco one to buy this.

We picked the SlimFit3 over the regular slim fit and we're really happy with the SlimFit3. If you need to fit 3 car seats in the back seat, need 2 car seats in the back with the 3rd seat occasionally available for a kid/adult, or want to use a car seat on a plane...I'd pass on the regular slim fit and get an actually slim car seat like the Graco SlimFit3 or a Diono car seat.

If you just need a good car seat that isn't actually slim, the graco slim fit works.
