The first time my dog used this, it took him probably 20+ minutes to solve. After a few tries he had it down to under 5 minutes.

The doors on the red sliders come off (probably to prevent damage), and so do the white bones, so dogs that are prone to chewing may destroy those pieces.

Great feeder, great price. Bought it for far more $. My beagle loves it (dinner was in it tonight). It's the easiest of the feeders she has and she's pretty much mastered it. It starts in the rotation with other feeders

I got this for our 6 month old puppy. He enjoys it. I paid full price and it was worth it. This is a super deal.

Okay, I just bought one, too!

So now my dog's getting a Level 1 puzzle and this Level 2 puzzle.

I have this and as others have said, it's a great feeder. I feed my 80 lb mutt 1.75 cups or so of food at a time and this feeder holds that amount. He takes about 3 - 5 minutes to feed with it. I like that he has to think when feeding.

If anyone has a good level 3 suggestion I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your review! For Level 3, this one [amazon.com] is on sale right now.

My dog is a ~55-Lb mutt I adopted from the shelter not too long ago. I'm starting out with the Level 1 and Level 2. Smilie

Agreed with other commenters, great product. Used with Great Dane pups. Good mental stimulation. They do figure it out and become way more efficient over time. Be careful to monitor their play, as others mentioned some dogs may chew the puzzle a bit more than needed so to save the toy, I'd recommend monitoring their usage…and praise them, then take it away when they find all the treats/food

Thanks for posting this. I bought the easy level puzzle from another deal last week and my pug had it figured out pretty quickly, despite his flat face. Hopefully this one proves more challenging.

I'm a dog trainer, I own all the Nina Ottoson puzzles and highly recommend them. They've been having good sales recently but this is an absolute steal at $5.
I suspect it's so cheap because it has removable pieces you can lose fwiw (the white bones). most of her puzzles don't do this

My Mom's dog is either too lazy or too slow to figure out even the LVL1 toy. She paws at it for a few seconds then just look at you wondering when she'll be given a treat. Perhaps these are best for younger dogs. Maybe she is too set in her ways.

We have a high energy cat that needs a lot of interaction. We feed him with this level 3 feeder. You can unlock all the levers to make this puzzle easier. We actually put half in a bowl and half in this puzzle feeder at the same time and he often chooses the puzzle.

We have two of these toys and our dog does the same thing. I had to give her a few hints and show her where stuff is then she got curious. Like show there is something under the lid but don't let her get the treat. Or leave one open. After 10 minutes or so she got the jist and curiosity took the rest of the way.

My family has a 55lb and she had trouble with this level 3 one. Not because of the complexity but because it sits so low to the ground she can get her mouth around the pull tabs to pull. And when she tries pawing or pulling with her mouth the puzzle just moves because it takes a decent amount of yank to get the white pulls open. Not sure if that's normal or mine is just particularly difficult to get open. We tried adding a bit of rope to eat pull and that helped a bit, but it still feels like it needs to be held down in the middle.
