Interesting. I only have one Dewalt 20 Max drill (Xmas present five years ago) and it came with what I thought were two 2 Ah batteries. I figured at some point I would get a bigger battery or two. However, the more I used it the more I was impressed with the run time. I've drilled through hard steel for like 15 minutes straight on one battery. I come to find out one day they are only 1.3 Ah batteries! lol. I'm more than satisfied with the run time of them, in fact I'm shocked how long they last. I'm into the Ridgid platform since then, but the 20 Max drill is my favorite drill and I use it all the time. Batteries are still holding up fine five years later. The only thing I don't like about it is all the numbers on the clutch are warn off, in fact they were mostly warn off after about a year or so.

I understand the regular posting of this reoccurring deal. I bought it last year at same deal and really like the circular saw as third tool.

Not a bad deal, except the anemic batteries. They must have had a gutload of those things finally get unloaded off a ship, and now they have to dump em...

Yeah if you are just using a drill occasionally or flashlights they are still pretty impressive. My two 1.3AH batteries that I got with my original drill/impact kit 8yrs ago still work fine somehow. But, if you are doing more or buy more tools like circular saws, chainsaw, string trimmer, reciprocating saw, hammer drill, impact wrench, etc and start getting bigger batteries with deals on them you will find yourself never using the little ones again because the 4+AH ones will be the only ones you use or want and just use them for everything. again, the little ones are fine if you are just doing small projects occasionally, but go to build some new porch steps/deck, shed, or anything else that requires use of the tools for hours straight you will not be happy with the 1.3

Agreed with what the prior commenter said, but, for those new to the cordless game, keep in mind that 5 min depends on the tool of course. Bigger is not always better. Battery technology, weight, and overall output is important to the most frequent use case for each tool.

A CP3.0 is an amazing battery for the Milwaukee line and works great for impact/drill applications when fastening/many small holes is your application. No need for a heftier 9AH battery in that application. I would put their 8AH+ in a circular saw though!

That said, the statement of battery TYPE does indeed come into play even in batteries of similar "capacity". The XC5.0 (Milwaukee), as an example, uses different cells than the newer 6.0. The 6.0 offers more power/runtime in the same form factor as the 5.0. The same can be said for the High Output CP 3.0 vs. CP 2.0.

For DeWalt, I suspect it is a comment about getting the 1.7Ah batteries instead of, say, a 2.0+ in the same form factor. Powerstack is the latest DeWalt technology but those delays aren't going to come in many of these "inexpensive" package sales.

As always, get what you need. You can future proof a little. However, in most cases, if you are looking on Slickdeals for battery comparisons, you're probably not going to need the latest and greatest pack for use in high work load environments...you would do that research elsewhere and come here looking for a deal on the item you need 😊

I am most curious if this is the "clean out" before Father's Day deals are posted. Might have to buy now and return if something better arises!
