Any Shantae title. Not too difficult, can be beaten in a few hours, and they are hilarious. I enjoyed Pirate's Curse.

Thomas Was Alone is an excellent puzzle-platformer with fantastic writing & voice work -- well worth it at this price. It's a great fit for a handheld (I originally played it on Vita and have since replayed it).

Which game in the series would you recommend starting with? I love Metroidvanias, but have never played the series.

I played this game recently. Personally had a hard time with it. Not very clear where you're supposed to go and what you're supposed to do. Also didn't help that enemies respawns. The gameplay itself was fun though.
