Have had one of these for 6+ years. Use it only several times a year-seems the accessories have expanded a bit. I only have the cage + mesh cover. For what it is-it does everything well. Turkeys are excellent. Does a mean rack(s) of ribs. Have done quite a few loins. Recipes/tricks/mods +++ on the web. Has held up well with minimal maintenance/preservation. Again - mine's a little older but still kicking. Seems about 8 years ago they were going for under $90 at the big box stores ... no idea what a 'deal' would be these days. Only looked because I saw 159.99 and thought 'WHAT??'
I have the big Easy Infared Oil-less Deep Fryer - I'm not sure how this differs per se, but I love that thing for deep fried turkeys and prime ribs!

This is great All-in-1 quick cooker, but don't expect it will hold the heat well for slow smoker. It has option to add smoker flavor. The lowest control temp is around 275F with gas. I haven't use charcoal on this cooker and see no reason not too. The rack and stainless steel do rust over time. If you are going to buy 1, coat high temp cooking oil both inside/outside to extend the life of the grill/roaster. This bad been discontinue awhile back and price gone up.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank m3n00b

I've used it and this thing sucks. The minimum temperature is around 350 which is way too hot for proper low and slow smoking.

I feel like a regular propane or electric smoker would be a better buy.

My ex gf had one of these. It was awesome as a grill, minimal flare ups and cook times were fast. Didn't try the other features before we broke up.
For my marriage, my wife and and I bought the bistro, which is grill only.

I haven't tried this product but I can vouch for the smaller, single-function oil-less fryer Big Easy model making shockingly good turkey. No, it isn't as good as actual fried turkey, but it's much easier, safer, less messy, and cheaper because you don't need to buy peanut oil by the gallon to get the job done. It's close enough to the real thing while being easy enough that you'll end up making way more turkey than you would have with a real fryer.

Re: using it as a grill or smoker...I have my doubts. I wouldn't expect it to grill as well as the cheapest purpose-built propane grill because and its grilling capacity is miniscule. Even though it can produce substantial heat, it looks like you can't access it directly. Too bad, because putting a pan directly on a real turkey fryer is the easiest way to blacken fish or flash-sear a slow-and-low cooked steak (assuming you don't own a powerful catering burner).

As a smoker it is also an awkward layout and has the opposite problem with heat: it can't go low enough for many types of smoking, though it should be fine for high-heat smokes like poultry thighs.

All in all, this looks like a decent bet if you want a bigger alternative to the Big Easy for a reasonable markup (at this sale price). But I'd be hesitant to buy it at list or for smoking or grilling, and if I were price conscious and patient I'd wait for a Big Easy to go on sale unless I really needed the larger oil-less frying / roasting capacity.

I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't you crash through tanks of propane doing a long smoke (and that's assuming you can get the minimum temp to what you want)?

I have no idea how these work. Are they safe to work inside?
