GREAT LAPTOP. Looking to buy a 2022 12th i7 LG Gram 17.
This is much better than Macbook. Love the super light weight and super nice 17 inch 2K screen

I love the Grams, but I wish LG would stop making these 8GB non-upgradeable RAM models. The only reason they do it is so they can charge a LOT more for another 8GB, way more than MSRP for an 8GB module..The fact they used to allow upgradeable RAM tell us all we need to know.

Lol this is with ALL laptop makers, not just LG. LG does stress portability and battery life, so they use LPDDR4 memory which are ALL soldered.

Lol I knew someone would respond with that, and it doesn't make it ok. Until the 2020 models I believe, RAM was upgradeable on all Gram models. The models since haven't become lighter or smaller, so soldering RAM is not out of necessity. This is clearly a tactic to force customers to pay up for more RAM, plain and simple.

You missed the part where I also said battery life. LPDDR4 stands for Low Power DDR. Pretty much ALL ultrabooks use it now for less power consumption.

And you also missed my other point. ALL laptop makers do this now, it's not an LG thing. Yes, there are still laptops with dimm slots, but not at the weight and thinness of these LG's. There will always be an exception somewhere but they are extremely rare.

I am not arguing the motive here. Sure, there's profitability involved, but all laptop makers are going this route so it's not like you have any alternatives, not for a name brand ultrabook at least.

dont buy it if you are concerned about overall speed. this is made for portability. personally, id rather have a thicker laptop just for durability... i dont even care about the speed or the portability as much.

I have 2 LG Grams. My point is 8GB Ram Vs 16GB+ Ram. More Ram makes this laptop into a different level and can be used for more than 1 year wherr 8 gb ram limits the laptop usability.

I didn't miss any parts. The Gram's dimensions and weight haven't changed since they had DIMMs, and their battery life is the same as when there were DIMM slots, which were for LPDDR4 btw. Soldering is not necessary to have LPDDR. Perhaps it saves a dollar, but it has nothing to do with weight, size or battery life.

The Gram is surprisingly durable, though it doesn't feel that way. It's flexibility is by design, and it holds up to impacts better than you'd think. All models are MIL spec certified which is far better than most laptops. Don't let it's perceived flimsiness fool you.

Is everyone who visits slickdeal's laptop posts a programmer, video editor and/or photo editor? This laptop is 16" with 16:10 aspect ratio and is only 2.6 pounds. 8 GB of RAM is fine for most people who use a laptop to consume media, surf the web, use word or excel, and check email and it will be able to do that for you for a long time.

Carry it to the bedroom, carry it to the bathroom, carry it outside. You will love how light such a large screen can be.

If you have 30 chrome windows open, you just need to close some or use your bookmarks. I would go crazy trying to keep track of that many windows.

So for most this deal is fine and this is a great price. Sure I could use more RAM and SSD space but I don't need it now.

Note: this version helped address the speaker problem of the prior generations where they would distort. They are still not great but now usable. That is my only gripe with this laptop.

So basically you should learn to ignore all threads titled lg gram since portability is the entire reason for the existence of LG Gram.

Finally.. Everytime broken hinge issue is discussed with Lenovo laptops, people keep saying that only happens with ideapad and not the yoga line. I knew I read issues with yoga as well.
