I got the RT-AX92U deal. I haven't studied routers for a very long time. I'm moving into a 2500 SQFT home, lot size 5000 SQFT.

Would this be the better option?

As I tell a lot of people if one router covers your whole location and you can get around 2-3 signal bars even on the edges of where you use stuff you are good and dont need mesh. Its especially recommended for people using a lot of smart home devices as they sometimes dont play nicely with mesh. The same info will go to you.

This router overall is more powerful than a single AX92U by about 35ish% in total throughput using proper clients at a short distance (30ft and under), at a long distance (50ft out) the AX92 falls within around 10% of that performance gap. So in short you will get a significant increases in speeds if you have at least a 1Gbps connection in a short distance. If you have speeds under that and your not in LAN streaming kind of a mute point. This router also would make for a nice AiMesh setup in the future, for those that need the mesh and got the money.

All that being said this unit is pretty much on the way out, its being replaced by a PRO version in the next coming months. I believe we will see a lot better prices on these NON PRO guys in the near future. The PRO version which is still only wifi 6 uses some newly available airspace so its kind of the best of both worlds because its not wifi 6E so its range is not as short or easily hampered, but still outputs great speeds over a good distance.

I ended up finding someone selling one used with two RP-1900 aimesh extenders and a modem for my new service provider. Got it all for $380, the modem itself is selling for $80-$100 used around where I live.

Hopefully this keeps me happy.

I dont recall if the RP-1900 are tribands or not and im too drunk and tired to check, but price wise I would say you got a good deal even though those are only AC and not AX they are still expensive extenders, so you did well. Just dont put them all too close together cause you will cause too much overlap and cause yourself issues.
