This is a really weak processor. At this price point I'd stick with a Chromebook or an Android tablet with keyboard if it'll meet your needs.
This processor is not weak unless you're comparing it to i5/i7 or Ryzen 5/7. It is quad core and scores a 2715 on passmark for multi thread. It's similar to an AMD Athlon 3050U and is way more powerful than a Snapdragon Chrome book.

What's the concensus on Windows S mode? Seems like Chromebook is more flexible.

You can switch the mode, full Windows is way better than limited Chrome.

I bought this back from the Memorial Day sale. I liked it. I'll still return it, though, because of an intermittent hissing sounds it generates.

Getting out of S Mode is rather easy.
As to Chrome they are just different. Some people like Android Apps so it depends on which apps you want to run. You do better with low specs on Chrome.

But this processor is quite good like a gen 9 I5.

It looks very similar to EVOO/Gateway models from Walmart.

Windows 11 now has built in Android app emulation so you can run any Android app on it no problem, and this laptop is able to upgrade to W11.

I'm curious too.

It looks like they don't recommend it. But that might just be them covering themselves. "Can I install Linux on my Geo device?
While your Geo device may work with other operating systems such as Linux, it has been specifically designed and built to work best with Windows. Therefore we do not recommend changing from the preinstalled Windows operating system. Furthermore, our Geo Support Team will not be able to offer support to software issues related to Linux. "

It can be difficult to even activate this. I tried to with my desktop. But then you are locked into the Amazon App Store which has poor reviews. It is possible, with more work, to allow Play Store to work. That was so hard to achieve I eventually gave up.

You have to enable Linux of some form for this to work. From then on you more or less have two OS's working so it slows you down.

Any newer Chromebook has play store installed so most apps are easy to install.

Hopefully Windows will improve this in the future. This is fairly new for Windows 11.

The Apps I bought on Play Store would have had to be paid for again on Amazon App Store as well. So this is very much YMMV as to Android Apps on Windows 11.

Not quite sure about you have to repurchase apps from playstore via Amazon App. Unless you are on a Kindle Fire already, why would you even be purchasing Amazon App? It makes no sense trying to activate Android App compatibility puts you into the Amazon App store? Unless there are some shenanigans going on, with automatic defaults but why would an Android Emulator App kick you into the Kitchen for App Store? Ditto for anything Microsoft.

Seems to be a fine little system except for the TN screen. I love light cheap and slow ultrabooks cause I use them either as thin client or typewriter kind of work but there is little workaround for a dim low contrast discolored screen.

Yes I almost bought this last time it was on sale for $199 but the TN screen gives me pause - ending up picking up an HP open box from Best Buy for $225 - with an I3/8GB/256GB SSD and IPS - similar deals pop up if you keep looking

While I think this deal is tempting, I just find TN screens almost unusable these days - rest of the specs are OK
