Just got one of these a few days ago for my lab that normally inhales her food. It has extended her 2-cup feeding from 30 seconds to at least a couple minutes. She was not happy the first time but she's very food-motivated so she got over it quickly. She has never had problems from eating too quickly, but it was insane even compared to other labs we've had.

She's learned to look for leftovers and find them with her long tongue so I haven't seen any issues with cramming her face and gums.

Actually got this last time and it's quite large I ended up just throwing it away because I read somewhere that because the channels are so narrow it hurts the dog's gums and snouts

I use these with dogs that gulp down food. They are terrific to stop that behavior. Never had a problem with flipping or with teeth/gums.

Nope. Made out of whole cloth. Have used 2 similar dishes for years and years. My chocolate lab has never had a problem and various vets we've been to over the years recommend them and have stated the gum and teeth notion is a rumor.

Thats what I figured. Been using one for a little over a year. Havn't seen any of those issues. Helps prevent my dog from choking since he normally inhales his food without this slow feeder. Makes me second guess myself if I fed him...LOL. picked up a 2nd to use outside.

I use these with no issues. Every dog is different and there are different things to try.

Sorry it was a comment from someone else on another thread but when I got this one it's deep and narrow and I agreed with the comment. Dogs will dig a dig as we know .... here's the ladies commen.

"Please do not get this bowl if your dog has a short snout. It's tough for them to reach the food. My dog hurt himself to the point of bleeding from his gums since the valleys on the bowl are made from hard plastic."

maybe it's just digs with smaller tongues. idk... the one I use now isn't even half as tall.... these work great though.

Sorry it was another ladies comment/review and when I got the bowl I can see how your dig can easily hurt their snout cause it's so deep and narrow. I use another similar slow feeder with no issue. But I didn't want to rusk it as it seems to be ab accurate statement. Here is her comment

Yep. We have 3 Gobbling Goldens and we simply add a good amount of water to their food to slow them down. Didn't have much luck with slow feeders. Whatever works.

Maybe that dog has gum disease and needs more chewing/dental attention. This bowl works well with our pit mix and no issues with her broad face. We've used this with other dogs before as well, always good results.
