Only 16GB will run in dual Channel till DDR4Ram. In DDR5, it is different and it does not even hurt the performance that much if you use a single stick. The reason is that each of the DDR4 module has 2 memory channel and it is basically based on LPDDR4/X. If you have a single stick of DDR5, the CPU will connect with it in 2x64 Bit. If you have 2 memory sticks, irrespective of their size, it will run in Quad Channel and that too, for the full capacity.

Say you have one 8Gb DDR5 soldered and one 32GB DDR5 module with a Ryzen 7 6800U. In that case, the 8GB ram will be itself running in 4GBx2 Dual Channel model and will be connected to 2x32bit channel. The other 32GB Ram will be running in 2x16GB Dual Channel mode and will be connected with the rest of the memory controller in 2x32 Bit, resulting Quad Channel configuration for the full capacity, even if the memory capacity is dissimilar between the two sticks.
It is $825, not $782. Check again. JUNEBIGDEAL is not a fixed discount, it depends upon the base price. However, I still kind of agree to get that model you recommended.

Now regarding your idea about E -> L -> T, let me correct you on that. Build Quality and material wise, since 2020, E series has been redesigned by a lot to make it slimmer, lighter and metal has been used in the lid and top base. It is actually superior to L series which is made of plastic completely. The Advantage L series has towards business Customers is the offered specification related to security and business specific features. For example, L series can be configured with Intel V Pro and Ryzen Pro series CPUs which may be required by some business due to their integrated security options. It can be also fitted with LTE cards, not available in E series. But if you're buying for personal usage and don't require those, E series is actually a better choice due to build quality.

whats the battery life on this?
It's got an average sized 45 W battery, so I'd say around 6-7 hours of mixed use, prob even less if u stress the CPU.

What is the more appropriate use case for this config?
General office use, multimedia, software dev, data science, or maybe gaming?

For those of you who don't know how double data rate works, you need two sticks of matching size and then they'll read and write twice fast as the slower of the two modules. So having unmatched modules is far from ideal.

Guys without getting crazy technical is this a good deal regardless if there's a better setup for slightly more; I currently have a EVOO Gaming Laptop 15" FHD 144hz, 9th Gen Intel i7-9750H, Nvidia GTX 1650, 16GB of RAM with 256 SSD that I had bought in January 2020 for $650. Any advice is appreciated.

You know it wrong. Dual Channel works with dissimilar capacity modules as well. Google Hybrid DUal Channel or DUal Channel Flex mode. And by the way, that is not Double Data Rate, which is the full form of DDR. You have confused Double Data Rate with Dual Channel. May be learn those first before trying to educate others.

You should join the Congress to bring a bill about it instead of blabbering in all SD Laptop threads with soldered memory. You guy behave like everybody needs 64GB Ram by populating two 32GB Ram whereas in reality, majority of the people buying these kind of business laptops, never go beyond 16GB and a lot of them even using 8GB. Also, soldered Ram has a lot of advantages, especially for the Thin & Light Laptops.

Except that argument doesn't quite explain how they expect the performance to be high with 1 SODIMM and 1 soldered. I can understand when they solder all available RAM (better battery etc). This configuration seems almost an admission that higher RAM trumps single soldered unit.
I can also understand how a 16GB soldered makes more sense in today's world - considering, these ships with Windows (that's borrowing from your argument above).

Let's not get technical and let me ask you this question...Do you know why you need a Laptop in the 1st place? Because the other laptop you're comparing it with basically has no comparison. One is a 14" Light and portable Business Laptop and another one is a gaming laptop. So, why don't you 1st decide why you want a laptop 1st and then ask which should you choose?

Well honestly I bought mine as an overall use I use it for gaming, school (coding/programs), work and light editing. I bought it because I wanted something fast that won't slow down on me when I have a thousand tabs open or running any software (music, video, etc), as for gaming I barley gamed on it but it was nice to know I always could at the time. I don't "need" a laptop but I was thinking it was maybe a time for an upgrade (if it is that) and that's why I'm considering this. Would this Lenovo laptop not be considered an upgrade? Thanks for your reply.
