Appeciate the post! Thanks OP!
Does anyone else have problems finding anythis when sorted by Metacriticscore? Alphabetical is always best for me (maybe with score added for those that like it).
Pizzam (and others), Wandersong is an absolute delightful game. The underlying themes are a bit dark for a 6-year-old, but the game is super-cute, there's no real violence in it, and the music is fun and cheerful.
And for us adults, it's an easy but entertaining adventure, filled with some funny dialogue and situations (coffee pirates!) and actually some touching scenes.
The gameplay itself is pretty basic. Relatively simple platforming, and a bunch of 'simon says' style music imitation bits. But if you don't mind that, I heartily recommend the game for a nice antidote to all the crap that's goin' on in the world right now. It will make you feel good :-)
The Lego games are good, be depending on whatever IP/franchise your kid likes. Our kids also play Stardew co-op, but it's more "farming sim" than button masher.
Brothers is a decent little game that can also be a good co-op with a young kid.
I haven't tried Scribblenauts, but it's assumed at kids too.
Stardew Valley is fantastic, and you can play together.
Scribblenauts is great, though your kid might be put off by the reading/spelling.
Any lego games is pretty solid.

Seconded. It's one of my favorite card-like roguelikes.
The music is banging. The art is super charming. And the variety in strategy from character to character to so good.
It's such a well polished fun package that under 4 bucks is a great deal for a version you can take on the go.
