Kind of a niche item, but I've had my eye on an inexpensive baritone guitar to mess around with for awhile. Hope someone finds this useful!

I had a similar thought years ago and bought one of those Squier Anigua baritones. I had so much fun with it that I wanted to trade up so I sold mine and nabbed a Reverend baritone which I really like. I should have kept the Squier, though, as it's worth like 3 times list price now!

Is squire any good? I've only had experience with the ones at BJs and Sams Club which were shoddy quality

Gretsch has a pretty good and solid Baritone: Gretsch G5260T Electromatic Jet Baritone - Check Reverb and call the retailer you might get a sweet deal or get a used one. Won't be $400 but I would pay even $150-$200 more for that Gretsch.

Stick to the Classic Vibe line. The Starcaster and Affinity stuff is/was really shoddy.

these baritones are in the Paranormal Series which is also a great line from Squier.

just be leery of affinity and starcaster. Try before you buy.
some are good and some are clunkers.

Whatever you get, just get it from Sweetwater. I've had amazing customer service experiences ordering through them and always try to support them over Amazon when price is comprable.

For context, a Fender Squire Telecaster will have been made/marketed as a more modest guitar than a Fender Telecaster. This doesn't mean Squires can't be great guitars and great guitatists do own and play them - people like Keith Richards - just that they fall in the value section of the Fender catalog.

I got this guitar used on Amazon a month ago. Man, it's a lot of fun! Very clean lows. Neck pickup has those nice bluesy tones when you're playing licks around the 12th fret.

My brother tried it out and loved it immediately. It just fills a missing tonal area with guitars that nothing else captures. It can totally double as rhythm and bass if needed, depending on your playing ability

Also, this fit in a normal generic guitar case just fine for me (square gator case). Didn't need a bass case.
