Lol, I'll be sure to check this post back in a few weeks time to see if your knowledge is accurate.

...something tells me, you went out of your way to make sure I know you have worthless info though.
Except alot of people still use DSLRs as they have easily a ten+ year life span. And for the people who have moved on to mirror less systems they likely brought some lenses with them by way of a fairly cheap adapter. Could be wrong but a prime 28mm 1.4 lens doesn't exist natively for the RF mount
This is one of the best regarded sigma art primes, I don't know why people downvote a great lens that's a great deal.

I bought this lens a while back. Really happy with it overall, but it's super heavy. I've used it on my 6d mk2 and more recently a canon r5 with the adapter. I would say it's a no brainer at this price if you need a prime like this.

You are gullible and cranky/self-absorbed.

Meantime, smart people know that DSLR lenses are already past extinction and merely excite old-timers like yourself. The right time to buy these -- if you're that old -- is when they're being cleared out at much, much, much bigger discounts than this. Like, weeks from now. NOBODY is manufacturing camera bodies for these mount types anymore.

Oops. You mean Nikon is still selling/making APS-C and Full Frame DSLRs? Guess that kinda ruins your entire worthless narrative, huh?

It's crazy that some people say DSLRs are dead. Sure the future is mirrorless, but it's far from there yet. Heck we've had mirrorless cameras for 12 years and just recently have they become the new standard.

In any case. I bought this lens to replace my 24mm 1.4 sigma. I even bought a 5DSR (gasp, a mirrored camera). It's so sharp it's crazy. The focal length is great, though I'd prefer this to be a bit wider. As a travel walk around lens it can't be beat.

Just spent a week in Costa Rica and two weeks in eastern Canada. It was on my camera 50% of the time in Costa Rica, and 95% in Canada.

And for a $1000 for camera and + $600 for this lens, it blows any mirrorless setup out of the water until you triple that price.

These are also pretty new and sigma has a history of getting a bunch out cheaper (probably for word of mouth about how amazing they are) before removing the discount. They did the same thing with the OG 35mm art.

Why do you prefer 28 over 24 I'm on the fence because I already have 35mm1.4 so do you think I should wait for 24mm deal vs this lens, it not much different from my 35

How well would this work on a crop camera? Or would I be better off with this 30mm lens? https://www.adorama.com/sg3014dceos.html
It should work OK but you'll be carrying a lot of extra weight for no benefit. Full-frame wide-angles are always bigger and heavier than a crop lens of the same speed and focal length, because it needs to illuminate a larger sensor and correct for aberrations across the large sensor.

I've had a few cheap third party lenses through the years, but the Sigma ART series have been solid. Very happy with performance of the various models, and 2nd hand prices reflect that. They're in the same field as the name brand lenses.

FYI, you would need a EF to EOS R adapter for this to work on EOS R cameras, and it would add an inch to the overall length with the lens/adapter combo.
