I've heard the ph part doesn't truly work but the moisture part works well. I get less splitting on my tomatoes if I keep the moisture above 2 on the meter, helps make it dummy (me) proof. These are very fragile though, they break if the ground is even a little hard

I have one of these but a different brand. I think sticking your finger in dirt works better.

These are junk. Like people said, sticking your finger in the soil is more accurate. pH doesn't work, and the light meter is the same as saying "yup, it's sunny outside:.

Just a gimmick.

Works as good as sticking your finger in the soil to see if it is wet

I ordered one. I feel this will be more objective than sticking a screw driver or finger. Hopefully that is true. I want to find out the best moisture level for lawn and use this to make a decision on whether to water.

Can't speak to the brand, but I find moisture meters helpful. Often times if you're prone to over watering this is a life saver because you can tell how wet your soil is towards the BOTTOM of the pot, where you can't reach with your finger (at least not without some big displacement of dirt and roots)

I have this. I bought it last week for 12.99 (will probably return it now and buy this). I don't know how accurate the pH meter is but the moisture and light works well. I'll test the pH one after I get some pH paper to compare with

I have been using this thing sporadically for 2 years or so. The moisture meter is accurate, the light meter basically tells you if it's sunny at that spot or not right now - useless in my opinion. The ph meter seems to work ok but I've never tested my soil so no way to verify. Not bad for 7 bucks to tinker around the yard with.

Stick one in a glass of orange juice and put it on pH mode - it works (I tried this). The soil needs to be damp for pH to work, it's measured via electrolysis from differing metals in the 2 rods. Accuracy/granularity might be another story.
