I agree that that would be a pretty big fault for it, but from what I read, acacia wood is good for outdoor furniture use and water resistance. You could probably just hit it with some wood/deck sealer if you were worried though

Generally I applied the sealer before assembling outdoor furniture, the same for this table, or you will have most gaps between pieces unprotected. Better to protect outdoor furniture from day 1, not afterward. Protecting, not saving!

I am still deciding if I should sell another one or just keep it as material for my next woodworking project. The wood costs more than what we have paid.
Do you need to clean/wash the new parts before applying the sealer? If yes, how? With dish detergent?

I don't think the manufacturer has applied any oil or sealer, so no cleaning needed unless you have applied teak oil.
