Yep, Japanese dominate the old electronics that work well for decades, Koreans dominate the flashy crap that lasts for a year or two. Agreed

I can't believe G Shock still doesn't make a smartwatch option. It's like the Japanese gave up after the 90s. Koreans dominate all the electronics now.

Agreed. While I used to love gshock, these days I can live without built in gps and smart functionality on a watch. Feels like Casio missed a huge opportunity while other brands moved to smart watches. For now I'm stuck with Garmin watches and Instinct would be next if I ever upgrade

I'm confused by this

I ran into issues wearing this on my left wrist. I kept hitting that giant button on the side when bending my wrist back, push ups or lowering myself into a chair/car seat for instance. Ended up selling it.

I have the Army Green Rangeman. Bought it in probably 2014 and it has been my daily since then and the only times they come off my wrist is if im sleeping. It has seen a lot and its still in perfect condition. I love this watch so much and have nothing but amazing things to say about it.

Don't know why people are comparing it to smart watches when the casio rangeman purpose is for survival, outdoors, and durability. While smart watches are for every day use and workout monitor.

Just thought I'd share a place to get good cheap G Shock watches if your on a budget and don't mind used. I've got some amazing deals on *REDACTED*. Including G Shocks for less than $25, Mudman, etc. Sometimes I've taken a chance and bought non working watches for 10 bucks and they needed nothing but a battery! Many times these donated watches to *REDACTED* just have dead batteries and for 10 bucks on a $200 watch, I'm willing to take a chance as long as the case and band are in good condition. I've also purchased some amazing vintage watches like old Casios, calculator watches, melody/music watches etc. Picked up a few Seikos and other brands as well, all for really cheap. I usually log in once a week to see what's newly listed. Their auction site doesn't have near the traffic that Ebay has, so not everything gets bid up all the time.
Ya dude so stop telling people about it. Some items already do get bid up all the time.

I bought this watch once and ended up returning it almost immediately. It is huge and gawdy, which is ok if that's the look you're going for, but the size of it is something that will draw a lot of attention and snag a lot of clothing and get caught on more things day to day.

My daily driver is a Casio ProTrek PRW-3000-1A. It's black on black with a negative display. It's not as tall or big and doesn't stand out, but the time display font is larger than this watch and easier to read. Best I can tell, it has all of the same features except you give up 100m of waterproofing (100m vs 200m). If you're down over 330ft and worried about your watch, you have bigger problems on your hands.

Didn't this watch retail for $59 a few years back? Frankly, way too expensive for a digital watch!

Was just gonna say the same thing. I remember 25 years ago, this thing was $60. Damn inflation sucks.

I gotta say for the price you can do better. Unless you guys are living in the woods off the grid, you can do much better. Even then, I'd take a solar Garmin over this.

I have a very similar G shock I bought from Costco in probably 2007. I feel like it was only $40 or so. It has the same solar power, atomic clock, auto light, but not the barometer and compass and stuff. The band eventually broke down, but otherwise it's indestructible. It is also huge, but I got used to it. I wish there was a cheaper option to get some of these features in a smaller size.

Totally agree. Most of my Samsung products have had problems. I'm also surprised that there is no Korean gaming console, which is keeping PlayStation alive. Sony has moved on to be an entertainment company instead of an electronics company.

No there usually is a version without all the features for the entry level price.
