Depends on the AC.

Central Air? Almost universally no.

Mini-Split? Depends on the size. 12k BTU 120v will easily run with this.

Window units and portables? Almost universally yes if they are 120v.


As always - everything is also dependent upon how much you run with it.

100 less running watts on gasoline than the gasoline only 3800 model which I have two. This is still a great deal and tempting but I have too many. But I'll still think about it 😂

ran it for 8 hours last season nice gen. just started it up this 'cane season after sitting since last year, fired right up. fair deal given inflation, it hasn't been this price in a long while. Bought the 3800 gas only to parallel with this one if needed last week.

One reviewer said they had at 10kbtu and 12kbtu running at the same time on this unit. Another reviewer said it would not run his ac in his rv. Which typically are 11-15kbtu. Probably the startup surge was too much.

I was ready to pull the trigger on this until I realized it doesn't have a 240V output. This is a deal breaker for me as it will connect to my main panel.

only a couple 240v inverter gens atm and pretty expensive. duramax, or there's a genmax cheapest is around 1k no duel fuel , df one is around 1300 with no parallel.

lot of money for something you're gonna run the piss out of and probably isn't built for the duty cycle.

i use this, then have a 240v non inverter for emergency 240v loads. I'm on lp so the only 240v loads i have are in case of a hurricane to drain pool or run some motorized loads. Besides AC but you're not running a 5 ton off either of those.
