3 batteries = 4.5V. You could wire this to be powered by a cheap 5V USB plug and eliminate the batteries.

Couldn't you just use rechargeable batteries?

Ok, I bit.
2 x small tripods (hope that it has same tread screws as regular camera mount?) 4 bucks each.
1 x camera holder 2 bucks.
2 lights with batteries = bonus?

Worse come to and it goes back. I prefer rechargeable, not D cells which suck b2@#lls.

Thanks for SD making me broke!

I don't really need it but ordered it anyway. The worst case, I could use it in Christmas gift exchange....haha.

300 lumens is more like a night light so you don't trip over something in the hallway. I would get something at least 1000 lumens at a minimum with 2500-3000 lumens for poor old geezer eyes.

The batteries that come with it alone cost almost as much.

For anybody that's looking to buy some rechargeable D-Cell batteries. I've been using NiMH D,C,AA,AAA batteries for well over 15 years now, and they work pretty well.

Li ion batteries are now dramatically cheaper, are absolutely competitive with NiMH, and are a better choice if you have the money.

There are several styles of Li available now, standard batteries that require a separate charger and have a higher capacity, and other more expensive models with lower capacity but have electronics built into them and can be charged directly from a USB-C cable.

Thanks OP! Bought couple - too good to pass.

For all the people with concerns - it seems to have sensor which means you can also keep this in dark closets and battery will last long; Unless of course if you spend a lot of time in THE dark closet ;-)
D batteries arent cheap though

I just received mine(ordered before this deal hit SD) and it is GREAT. The phone holder is magnetic and has the screw option for the tripods, which are also awesome. I ordered 2 and I was not expecting much, but it seems like a well made product. Could the lights be brighter? Sure, but they're easy to set up and have great features. CORRECTION: I had the light set on low with the big one - it's actually super bright. Smilie

I received an open box item. The shipping package was fine, but the original box was damaged, and not glued together. The battery pack was already opened and there were scuffs on both lights. The tripods look cool, and I will use them with my gopro. The phone holder feels like my phone will slip out of it because it has no grooves. The magnets seem VERY strong.

Just received mine, It's better than I expect.
The shipping package was fine, but the original box was not glued together.
I think it's brand new with bad packaging.
All 3 items are with strong magnetic and IP44 water splash proofed.
It's bright enough for my need.
Hope I can get second.
