considering this for work - we have a few dozen iPads which didn't get associated with our Apple Business Manager account, so enrolling them in full MDM requires a MacOS device with M1, and this is almost half the price of what we were quoted for.

If you have a Costco membership, I recommend buying it there at the same price + an automatic extended warranty. I've never felt the need to get Apple Care for stationary computers like these, so save yourself that cost and get 2 years (+ 2 years extension of warranty if using a Costco Visa, 4 years total.)

excellent Idea. but not to hate on costco the 2nd year warranty is a scam. I wouldn't buy it expecting to use it id still get apple care if warranty is important.

It's provided by Costco and then Visa as time goes one, I've used it before with success, explain what you mean by 'scam.'

maybe and hopefully its been resolved now but I have NEVER been able to reach anyone at the 2nd year warranty department and similar experiences with other users I read online on reddit . YMMV and lesson learned for me.

This isn't a scam at all. Costo honors their warranties and so does your credit card. I'd even say they are possibly more strict, but in reading here and my own experiences, not really. You just provide documentation and they handle it. Actually, some, including Apple, are actually more annoying to get them to honor their own warranty on their own product. Apple for instance on a pair of headphones, I contacted them a couple weeks before warranty was up on a legitimate issue. Given it took them a snail's pace to respond and get it, they 'graciously' let, after prodding, get it fixed/replaced. They allowed me to have warranty work despite it being past a year.

Never mind the fact I followed the rules, contacted them, and it was on them about the time delay, not me.

Yeah, you can use VM Ware or other virtualization. Comes native with Boot Camp.

Answer: VMware has a pre-release (beta) of Fusion for M1, and with that you can run Windows 10 (or 11) for ARM processors. I've used Parallels (a competing product) for ARM to do exactly this. Then, within Arm Windows 10, the Microsoft OS has x86/64 emulation built-in, so you can run Win64/Win32 Windows app.

Iit's NOT native, it's NOT full speed, and it's NOT perfect. That said, if you just need to run non-games from time to time, it works fine. You'd likely not want to do this all the time but it's fine for simple use.

No, you cannot run Boot Camp on M1 CPUs. Please see my previous post for how this works with non-Intel Mac Minis.

I have an Ender 3 Pro from Microcenter for 99. It's awesome. One of the best hobbies I have picked up in a long time. Have to enjoy tinkering though.
