These are selling everywhere else for $2800 and were previously front page at $2300. Yes, they are expensive for most people, but these are seriously good speakers, and you are very unlikely to be able to put any kind of system together for this price that will sound this good.

These are worth $1500 max, recession is coming and people aren't buying. These would work in a small medium room and you do need to get stands for it to sound nicely.

Buy some Elacs or another budget decent brand, power them with a Chinese chip amp, and compare those for $600 to these and see if you can even hear the difference. 95% of people wouldn't be able to.

I'm with money_badger, what a funny item to be on SD. How many SDers are looking to drop $2k+ on some bookshelf speakers? these are like exotic cars - isn't half the reason for buying these to tell people how much you paid for them? these should be on a marked-up-sale for the ultra wealthy who need to reach spending goals to earn extra airline perks on their credit cards.

I agree with this except that elac has lost some cred after they raised their prices by 4 times inflation on models like the debut 6.2(raised from 299 to 399 in response to 8% inflation).
