There is no such thing as a new "high powered electric" power washer for "$100-$150."

Besides the cast iron sleeved Honda GX 200 [honda-engines-eu.com] engine (a little less than 6hp), where this Ryobi washer is unique is it's adjustable throttle for more or less pressure. Most are full on or full off and dependent on the various tips for more or less pressure applied. Add the auto decompression, it is easier for some people to start... Grandma could pull the rope start on this one. And yes, at 3600 psi, this will clean your concrete drive with or without the optional rotating head. They had the better wheel model attachment for flat surfaces, but think it sold out.

Most gas power washers have throwaway engines unless you want to bore out the cylinder. The cast iron sleeve in this one can be replaced and use standard pistons, rings, etc. Someplace [pure-gas.org] in any decent size town, they sell ethanol free gas... use it, or at least use it at the end of the season for storage. It is only about 50 cents more per gallon with a higher octane (91) and worth every penny over water absorbing ethanol for small 2 and 4 cycle engines.

This is a great price, but honestly if your a home owner you dont need this in most cases one of the $100-$150 electric pressure washers will suit your needs just fine. This is more for people who run businesses doing power washing regularly. I find a high powered electric to be a lot less hassle overall, so if I had to choose I would go with the electric route every time.

TU for the great price.

Depends what you're doing. This might be okay for a professional detailing business but good luck making any money doing structures... you're going to be out there all day with a 2.5GPM flow rate.

Agreed, with the exception of cleaning concrete (driveways, porches etc). An electric will take 10x as long!

man. this is really tempting. ive been meaning to upgrade our electric washer for a bit now after it took us a full day to pressure wash our deck prior to staining... but this is a pretty large piece of equipment to store, and im limited on space. particularly heated space during winter.

What electric pressure washer did you use? I'm thinking maybe you need an upgraded electric PW.

Literally started looking this week for a pressure washer. Was waiting on a Simpson brand, and still might wait.. I know I wanted a Honda GX series motor which this has, but my concern is the pump. For the reading I've done, it comes down to motor + pump on a quality machine. Would like to hear everyones opinion on this please. Ty

You can most certainly winterize gas power washers... many use the cheap antifreeze for the water lines in travel trailers, but you can buy the special product for power washer pumps. If you will use ethanol free gas, this is a nice power washer that should last for years with the homeowner.

I bought one similar as a gift with the Honda engine from Tractor Supply last Christmas for $330 that was a bit of a pain to get delivered and then required an exchange. But a good washer, better than most. You just don't see these with the Honda engine in this price range very often and they typically sell out quickly.

I am a home owner who used to have an electric PW. Once you go to gas, especially if you get one of these [amazon.com], (they make smaller ones for Electric Pressure washers too, but the bigger ones will really save a lot of time) there is no going back. But you will have to maintain the gas one, which is something you don't need to do as much on the electrics.

Totally agree. A surface cleaning tool on a strong pressure washer is an absolute game changer. I've used mine for cleaning concrete slabs, wood decks (lower pressure), and even the clear roof on my large greenhouse. Plus, an added benefit is that the surface cleaner's housing keeps the spray and noise level down at the work surface.

I read somewhere that the commercial grade gx engines actually need to be used frequently to maintenance performance. Vs a residential gc that is built to be used infrequently. Anyone concur or able to speak otherwise?

We have a Simpson 4500psi with a 11hp Briggs that is a great pump, but heavy. You will need deep pockets for a real Simpson setup above about 3500psi. I would not hesitate to buy this deal if I needed one... and still thinking about buying it, but if you are close to a Farm & Fleet, they have their 3400psi Simpson [farmandfleet.com] brand with a Kohler for $379. It seems like they are also having a coupon sale this weekend. But, I am sure there are other deals out there.

Wonder what brand pump is on this Ryobi? I don't know that Ryobi actually makes this washer, but it has their 3 year warranty and a 10' longer hose than most.

Yes, they are owned by the same entity that owns Ryobi.... about as close as you can get to 'authorized.' Smilie

its honestly not worth the hassle. i do so little powerwashing that i would spend more time winterizing than the time a gas would save me over electric. honestly, i wish i could get my hands on one of these and determine how much of a pita it would be to get it up and down the bilco stairs to my basement.

honestly, im not sure of the brand. but i checked this morning before i left and its specs were almost exactly half of this one. 1800 psi and 1.3ish gpm.
