There is no such thing as a new "high powered electric" power washer for "$100-$150."

Besides the cast iron sleeved Honda GX 200 [honda-engines-eu.com] engine (a little less than 6hp), where this Ryobi washer is unique is it's adjustable throttle for more or less pressure. Most are full on or full off and dependent on the various tips for more or less pressure applied. Add the auto decompression, it is easier for some people to start... Grandma could pull the rope start on this one. And yes, at 3600 psi, this will clean your concrete drive with or without the optional rotating head. They had the better wheel model attachment for flat surfaces, but think it sold out.

Most gas power washers have throwaway engines unless you want to bore out the cylinder. The cast iron sleeve in this one can be replaced and use standard pistons, rings, etc. Someplace [pure-gas.org] in any decent size town, they sell ethanol free gas... use it, or at least use it at the end of the season for storage. It is only about 50 cents more per gallon with a higher octane (91) and worth every penny over water absorbing ethanol for small 2 and 4 cycle engines.

This is a great price, but honestly if your a home owner you dont need this in most cases one of the $100-$150 electric pressure washers will suit your needs just fine. This is more for people who run businesses doing power washing regularly. I find a high powered electric to be a lot less hassle overall, so if I had to choose I would go with the electric route every time.

TU for the great price.

I read somewhere that the commercial grade gx engines actually need to be used frequently to maintenance performance. Vs a residential gc that is built to be used infrequently. Anyone concur or able to speak otherwise?
I've had my gx200 pressure washer at least 10 years with zero issues. Always starts up first or second pull. Basic regular maintenance. A couple of times, it's gone up to 10 months without being run. Main thing as pointed out by someone else, I only use non-ethanol gas in it, with some kind of stabilizer as a bonus.

I am a home owner who used to have an electric PW. Once you go to gas, especially if you get one of these [amazon.com], (they make smaller ones for Electric Pressure washers too, but the bigger ones will really save a lot of time) there is no going back. But you will have to maintain the gas one, which is something you don't need to do as much on the electrics.
.
Personally, I like the wheeled versions of the surface cleaners... especially one with a height adjustment when using higher PSI washers (above 4,000 psi).

This packaged 3400psi Honda GC powered washer [directtoolsoutlet.com] with the wheeled surface washer for $340 might be a better deal for some... that wheeled surface cleaner [directtoolsoutlet.com] is not on sale and not cheap. They also have a smaller [directtoolsoutlet.com]wheeled surface cleaner for electric washers with lower psi that is not on sale.

Yes, they are owned by the same entity that owns Ryobi.... about as close as you can get to 'authorized.' Smilie
Thank you

its honestly not worth the hassle. i do so little powerwashing that i would spend more time winterizing than the time a gas would save me over electric. honestly, i wish i could get my hands on one of these and determine how much of a pita it would be to get it up and down the bilco stairs to my basement.

honestly, im not sure of the brand. but i checked this morning before i left and its specs were almost exactly half of this one. 1800 psi and 1.3ish gpm.
.
Bilco steps... oh my. Well, you have your wife or GF at the bottom to just guide it and you tie a rope around the handle and let it roll down the steps. Smilie .... It is really not that heavy.

But, if you don't use one, I get it. We wash everything with one, including vehicles. I am thinking about going to a 4,000psi electric one inside shop with a longer pressure hose. Our old shop had a steam cleaner setup like that and I kind of miss the no hassle, flip the switch.

The only thing better for me would be a wash bay for winter usage. I can hang tarps on a rope, but still a pain. There is a floor drain and I use a hose and bucket, but that does not get the road salt off the bottom. I bought one of those Ryobi water brooms [directtoolsoutlet.com] and undercarriage deals for $20 delivered, but have yet to use it.

You get what you pay for. Electric power washers go above 4,000 psi. But yea, the $100 models don't have much pressure that might be a good thing for some people and some jobs.

Electric power washers are throw away items.

You also have to winterize them or they'll crack. If they have already cracked the cheap plastic parts and started to leak.

Using ethanol free gas in a power washer and draining the pump for the season is all you have to do to winterize a gas unit.

Gas units are significantly better total cleaning units (GPM + PSI)

You don't need an extension cord for gas.

Gas will always outperform electric unless you're using a commercial 220v setup.

Electric units are similar to a powerful spray nozzle on a hose, good for very light cleaning. (Not going to clean siding, brick, windows on second level, concrete, undersides of vehicles, or really dirty gutters)

They're great for rinsing cars, washing smooth painted surfaces, and delicate materials.

Had several, including the top rated CAT washer, not my thing. I'd rather spend 1/10th the time on a project rather than 1/4 the initial investment.

Depends what you're doing. This might be okay for a professional detailing business but good luck making any money doing structures... you're going to be out there all day with a 2.5GPM flow rate.
What would you recommend in that case?

im a pretty big guy... 6'3" 240... i *think* i could carry it down a flight or stairs, but im not sure.

the issue we have that is going against us, is that we park the cars across a small stream about 75 yards away from the house and closest hose bib. so pressure washing our cars sounds awesome, but every time we do it would requrie us to pull out a long hose to get to the other side of the stream.

the price we pay for living in the woods i suppose!

Reviews for this company are terrible, do some research. I was getting ready to order this but when I read the reviews I decided it was not worth dealing with this company. And why will it take 20 days (3 weeks) to ship.

I'm not seeing anything in the product description regarding "auto decompression". Are you certain this function is included?

I bought a dewalt pw last year that looks similar to this ryobi, except it's equipped with a Cat pump. The lack of an auto decompression makes me want to toss it... if my wife or kids want to use it- I have to start it for them EVERY DAMN TIME.

4GPM absolute minimum. Take a look at professional pressure washing trailers and see what they're running. Most if not all pressure and soft washing jobs are billed by the job, not hours. You want to get in there and clean as fast as possible while still being thorough and this is accomplished with a high flow rate and the proper chemicals if needed.

Yes, speeding hipping is NOT their strong suit. BUT, the cost savings on refurbished or factory blemished tools, outweighs their slow shipping.

Some of the "factory blems" I received from them were actually 100% brand new retail!

When you buy from them for your tool line you have at home, you will be happy, esp when you get on a good sale w/ free shipping!
