There is no such thing as a new "high powered electric" power washer for "$100-$150."

Besides the cast iron sleeved Honda GX 200 [honda-engines-eu.com] engine (a little less than 6hp), where this Ryobi washer is unique is it's adjustable throttle for more or less pressure. Most are full on or full off and dependent on the various tips for more or less pressure applied. Add the auto decompression, it is easier for some people to start... Grandma could pull the rope start on this one. And yes, at 3600 psi, this will clean your concrete drive with or without the optional rotating head. They had the better wheel model attachment for flat surfaces, but think it sold out.

Most gas power washers have throwaway engines unless you want to bore out the cylinder. The cast iron sleeve in this one can be replaced and use standard pistons, rings, etc. Someplace [pure-gas.org] in any decent size town, they sell ethanol free gas... use it, or at least use it at the end of the season for storage. It is only about 50 cents more per gallon with a higher octane (91) and worth every penny over water absorbing ethanol for small 2 and 4 cycle engines.

This is a great price, but honestly if your a home owner you dont need this in most cases one of the $100-$150 electric pressure washers will suit your needs just fine. This is more for people who run businesses doing power washing regularly. I find a high powered electric to be a lot less hassle overall, so if I had to choose I would go with the electric route every time.

TU for the great price.

Yeah, unless you live in a stupid blue state. No ethanol free gas allowed for sale thanks to our local useless politicians. I put fuel shutoffs on all my power equipment. stall it out to burn out as much as I can from the carb, drain out the fuel line and tank. Then I just put the fuel from my lawn tractor into my snow thrower.

Isn't there some sort of adapters recommended for these for washing cars so you don't ruin your paint? It backs the pressure down a bit or something? I just don't want to see a bunch of people buying these and taking paint off of their vehicles.

My statement was....

How much is that electric Ryobi 2700 psi that only puts out 1.1 gallon/minute?

It does not matter, but we just can't get into a decent 3500psi plus in electric that puts out 2-1/2 to 3 gallon per minute for the similar price of gas. I am looking for a 4000 to 4500psi electric washer with similar gpm to bench mount and most are 220v and pricey.
Your requirements would be more than just about ANY standard household would use a pressure washer for with a range of 4k-4.5k psi range. Also as I mentioned I was talking on refurbished and open box units you can get some 2.5-3K psi for $150/200 if your needs are really that great.

I been a standard home owner for many years and my AR Blue 1900 has been adequate for everything I done with it as a standard average home owner. Being realistic here, cause your needs are no where near realistic to 99% of home owners. Also something your requesting would cost upward of $2-3k+.

Yes normally you would use the 40 degree adapter or soap adapter for washing cars, anything else will strip your clear coat and paint. Which I have seen on you tube some un knowledgable people do lol.

Never mind... you are getting way off base from your original statement with strawman BS.

You could just stand farther back from the vehicle.

The water hitting the vehicle from a further distance would have lower velocity as it slows from air resistance, and lower mass flow per unit area as it spreads out (assuming it's a spray pattern and not a linear jet). The reduced velocity and reduced mass per unit area would result in much lower forces applied to the paint during deflection (decel/accel).

A flow restricting nozzle that spreads said flow out into a wider pattern would also achieve the same results. As a very general example, assuming a feeder hose is of negligible resistance, decreasing a circular aperture radius by half would increase its resistance by a factor of 16. All else equal, this would result in a 16x decrease in flow rate. Half the diameter equates to a 4x reduction in cross sectional area, thus for a 16x decrease in flow rate (in an idealized example with the nozzle as the sole meaningful resistor), there would be 4x decrease in fluid velocity exiting the aperture as well. A reduced mass flow at a reduced velocity, and less force per unit area of paint.

Real world applications would likely deviate from this sterile example, but the premise is the same.

Depends what you're doing. This might be okay for a professional detailing business but good luck making any money doing structures... you're going to be out there all day with a 2.5GPM flow rate.
Agreed. The $700 price range should be 4 gpm and that is the way to do it ... This Ryobi is no better than a Costco one and you get to return the Costco one when the pump fails as it will.

I am a home owner who used to have an electric PW. Once you go to gas, especially if you get one of these [amazon.com], (they make smaller ones for Electric Pressure washers too, but the bigger ones will really save a lot of time) there is no going back. But you will have to maintain the gas one, which is something you don't need to do as much on the electrics.
I disagree. I design hydraulics for a living and we built a 25HP beast out of an old stock GX690 and some commercial pump as well as a smaller 10HP unit. Those are great for some projects but they're much more of a pain to use. I use my little $100 Ryobi 50 times for every 1 time I use the gas units. They're perfectly for 95% of stuff around the house.

We stained our patio and driveway to match our new home. Natuarlly, they get dirty with tire marks, water from potted plants. I am looking for something I can use to periodically clean them with. Not sure if theis too much or too little a device to use? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you check your spam box just in case or check your DT account? I received the confirmation email right after I ordered.
