$60ish per router isn't bad but these are pretty old, aren't they?

Just get the T-Mobile version off eBay and flash the factory firmware.

These are renamed RT-AC68U?

IMO these aren't expensive enough to justify bothering converting a TM-AC1900. I had to give up on converting my last one a year or two ago despite successfully converting two or three a couple years before that. You also can't run Merlin on the TM-AC1900, before or after conversion.

Interesting: No reviews of this product on the Newegg product listing. So no one who purchased this from Newegg has tried this in a mesh configuration or felt it worth posting a review?

I've converted 4 of these over the course of years and it takes <10 minutes every time. Also, Merlin runs fine on every single one of them.

I spent a couple days on the last one that proved impossible. The others took over an hour each. Merlin has done everything he can to avoid this model, probably because Asus will stop working with him if he doesn't. I couldn't even get an answer on whether a Merlin AImesh primary will work with converted TM-AC1900 nodes.

I don't understand why it's relevant that Merlin does not officially and overtly support the TM-AC1900. Once flashed, it is identical to the RT-AC68U. The entire flashing process takes about 10-15 minutes. If it's taking you longer than that then you're doing something wrong and having to troubleshoot and/or repeating steps. Someone recently automated the process, but I cannot comment on it because I have not tried it given that the original WinSCP/Putty way is so easy.

Merlin has never made any modifications to AIMesh. Asus keeps that firmware private. Any and all implementations of AIMesh in Merlinwrt is unadulterated, virgin, vanilla Asus AIMesh that Merlin simply includes in his version of the firmware. Merlinwrt works fine on the TM-AC1900-converted-to-RT-AC68U. I have three of them, purchased over the course of the last few years. The most recent one I bought (and later flashed) on Craigslist 2 weeks ago. They are all running Merlinwrt. AIMesh works fine.

The P models have upgraded CPUs (1400mhz compared to 800mhz of the original) and I think the radio is better but I am not positive.
