I just can't make up my mind which to get, or just wait for the next deal...
1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD costs about $23 more at the moment but one can wish for a good deal on Prime Day, no? BTW, Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD has hardware based Opal V2.0 compliant AES 256-bit encryption if that is of any concern.
If you're going for speed and your system (gen 4) supports it, WD SN850 or Samsung 980 Pro will likely be the top choices but will cost significantly more though.

This is why I bought one for the Legion 5 AMD laptop that I got from another deal posted here. There was no heatsink for the second m.2 NVMe drive in the laptop, and the laptop only takes advantage of up to Gen 3 drives anyway, so the cool running and energy efficiency (combined with the price) made this drive a no-brainer. So far it's running really well, and I like it. Seems to run very cool, and is fast compared to a lot of other Gen 3 drives.
I know only PS4 games can be played from an External HDD and stored PS5 games must be copied back to the internal SSD
Just wanted to make sure before I drop the $$$ for another SSD

As for the P31 1TB - solid drive and using both a 1TB and 2TB version in a laptop and desktop. Highly power efficient and runs very cool without any need for a heatsink. If you don't need a gen4 compatible NVME SSD, the P31 series is a solid drive to get.

This is the first time I have seen a PCI express gen 4 actually be faster than pci express gen 3, when it comes to 4kb random read writes. That part of the test determines how responsive a drive is. The Raw read writes does not determine how responsive a drive is, That is exclusively for data transfer.
You would be surprised how many pci gen 4 drives are in the 30mbps 4kb random read write range, and being very slow and sluggish.
