$11 in gas for me to go to Walmart or Target, 1 gallon each way at $5.50 per gallon. With prime I have free shipping all year-no gas

$12.97 is higher than regular pricing, $32.49 retail is an absolute joke

Walmart $12.49

therex10Deal for me. $11 in gas to go to Walmart & back where I live.
Just sayin'...while your point is valid about the convenience of free shipping, and why Prime is so popular...I personally cannot imagine that I would ever drive to Walmart JUST to get detergent (probably about $10-15 in gas for me) - it's a nonperishable - I would buy it when I'm already at the Walmart for other stuff that I could only get there and/or had to get there for as I needed it immediately. So, regardless of the cost of gas to get there, I've already spent that - the incremental cost of gas to pick up additional nonperishables is zero. I keep a list of stuff to pick up long term whenever I'm there. If I'm lucky, it'll even be on sale. Actually, since it's Walmart, I'll be lucky if it's not out of stock, or impossible to find in their disorganized mess, but that's a whole other list of complaints Wink

Right we don't even go there anymore where I live for the $11 gas & they are always out of everything, shelves bare, etc unsure why but it's been that way the last few trips so quit going for the $11 in gas.

I never get the sale items-always sold out here everywhere not to mention the gas & distance for any pick ups, even Walgreen's-waste an hour of time trying to get the pop specials & never get it

it is strange: everybody's had supply chain disruptions recently, but you'd think the company with the strongest bargaining power over its suppliers would have less supply disruptions, instead they seem to be far worse than others. i suspect horrible mismangement from the top, I highly doubt any of the current crop of wally's execs ever shop at a walmart - I read somewhere that Sam in his day used to drive his old pickup around the country to randomly check up on Walmart locations - don't know how much of that is mythmaking, but it might be a good idea for the current execs to experience the horror and tragedy of trying to shop at the average walmart these days. ok i'll get off my soapbox now... ;D
