I got the 27in version of this back on the treasure truck deal a few months ago. It was the final culmination in searching for a new QHD monitor. I tried many brands and all had fatal flaws or dead pixels (why dead pixels are still being allowed to make it out of the factory is beyond me).

Obviously moving from one size to another in the same line of displays can mean a whole different panel manufacturer or issues present on one but not the other - I'll say what I can about this line.

It's no frills and frankly, that's what I want. It has specs you'd care about in a display - variable refresh rate, a high refresh rate, good colors and accuracy, good brightness, multiple stand adjustments, and a good resolution that can be reasonably pushed by mid level GPUs for gaming.

Things that may not be as good - the HDR feature on my 27in is... it's there. It's horrible. Leave it off. Some of the features to help ghosting shouldn't be turned all the way up, but they do help (I think it has 4 levels of settings and 1 or 2 is all you need and beyond that it's worse). The colors and accuracy are very good for this monitor and the price range, but you won't be making Pantone color of the year with it.

Also, what this monitor doesn't have is the nice thing. It doesn't have RGB or some XTREME branding in your face! It doesn't look like a spaceship from your favorite sci-fi novel.

I did try a Gigabyte monitor and REALLY wanted to use the KVM switch function on it, but for some reason Gigabyte decided to invert the typical RGB to BGR and it's absolutely maddening. So few monitors have that still, so can't really say it's a miss. It would be nice though. Many mid-tier monitors and above have USB ports on them. I suppose this is nice, I can't 100% harp on it, but many netted you a total of ONE or two extra USB ports. I suppose having additional placement could help some set ups, but for me most have the USB port in just a bad place to help. And the fact you add a whole other cable for one or two extra USB ports... not worth it. Also, it's more points of failure in something you can easily execute with a USB hub, dock, or just buying a computer with a sufficient number of ports.

Anyway, good deal I say (assuming HP didn't go nuts and use some completely different panel/maker for the 32 over the 27)

Edit - these do have VRR, but are only FreeSync labeled. My Nvidia GPU recognizes it and will run GSync on it. If you HAVE to have a GSync certified (or whatever other tiers they have I can't remember) you will have to look elsewhere. But it is VRR and easily does it.

I just received mine from Amazon but the bezel bulges outwards at the top-right corner, pics below. The box was unopened (factory sealed) and undamaged. It looks like a defect in the injection moulding process. Would you mind checking yours to see if you notice something like this? I'm thinking about returning it and buying again, but if they are all like this there isn't any point in me going through hoops. Thanks!

I think it's a fair price point, but knowing that the 32GP850-B from LG went on sale for $300 maybe a month and a half ago; It makes this a harder buy.
The LG Ultragear model number confuses me. What is special about this model? It does not says in LG's website which HDMI port does it support. My brother's Ultragear monitor does not have Adaptive synce (G-Sync, FreeSync) works at full 144Hz over HDMI 2.0. Only Display Port 1.4 works

whats better about that one? seems similar, maybe you prefer the $100 donation to nvidia on the LG?

It's Nano IPS to begin with, so the panel has more accurate colors. It also goes up to 180hz but you're splitting hairs over 165hz. I'm not saying this is a bad purchase but for around the same price I'd go for the LG.

Am I seeing things or did you post this same paragraph over at reddit? But that was 3 months ago. If you received a defect product or something up to your satisfactory, just initiate a return or exchange from Amazon. Although by this point, you've passed the return window of 30 days.

The LG Panel is like a hundred more.

I know, hence my original comment about when it was $300 I would've taken that over this.

This or the $180, 32", 4K Samsung from Gamestop ($200 after progamer signup).

I'm a casual gamer (really only play 1 title that is not competition FPS). And this one would match a swap-out of one of my current 32" 1080P HP's that looks just like this one.

Pretty sure I already know the answer but curious about feedback.

I will also say, Gamestops return policy on monitors is trash...so that's more incentive to go with the HP.

Defective products may be refunded or replaced within 30 days except: Laptops, Desktops, Monitors, PC Components – for these excepted items customer must contact manufacturer (contact info. available from GameStop support)
