Don't forget Bottle deposit. I kept wondering why the price wouldn't go down and that's because in some states it's $.05 per can some have $.10

Family reunion is coming up so this deal was perfect, until they canceled half my order. Now they're clearing my cart at every attempt.

Posted this in the other thread but please check your expiration dates as I picked up tons for a party and a trip but half expire soon or already and the other half in the next 2-3 months (Coke was longer).

At least locally they seem to be clearing out their local inventory; its a bit annoying for me as the soda wont turn toxic or anything but since we dont drink a lot of soda so was hoping to have it around for longer without having it go flat. Also, if the cans are older they tend to be the ones that leak or crack etc sooner as well if not stored just right.

Quote from Gwizzler :
Store brands as replacements for Coke, Pepsi or Dr. Pepper are never good. From my experience, store brands are really only good for Ginger Ale, Sprite and orange/cream soda.

Listen. Yes that's what I'm saying. some are and some are not matches (some actually better/nuanced formulas). I have recently discovered it depends on which one (like Dr. pepper), and ALSO which store & brand. And now I've found cans at the lowest prices (Slickest deals) too.

So yes; it depends on individual tastes; but have you (and yours) done your own blind tests? Because not every store brand is the same. I am shocked; there are matches. Not all of them.

But guess what; so many people are reporting a perfect match or better on MOST (certainly not all) flavors/stores.

Dr. Pepper is one where almost everyone finds a particular store brand; that is the same or even better. Dr K works for me. I read Dr Check too. And while tastes do and can acclimate, we are not talking about large or any perceived differences in effect.

A lot of this is the odd bottle/can lable art leads folks to decide it can never match, and they have not tried a simple blind taste test, and more than one sip, over like a week. Or they decide it is a poor vs. authentic thing. So blind taste trials can decide for you the individual.

I can only tell you some (most) really match (a few really suck), and my pallette is very discerning.

And are most people going to notice fine differences. Probably not. Even more reason to try and see for yourself and buy whichever you want.

I fear a lot of people simply are stubborn, hate any change and abhor the idea of "unofficial" or whatever you call it. Look. It's carbonated sugar drinks. You can make your own; but it costs more.

Additionally it is my OPINION to get the sugar ones. Not the artificial "diet" ones generally. Because they are NOT really diet healthy at all. If you drink them to avoid to much sugar then some stores and flavors (and variations) actually have less sugar. Some more.

Of course sugar is as sugar does and if prediabetes then maybe drink something with Stevia; but that tastes best along with very low sugar; which I guess is a hard sell. So look for beverages that don't need sugar or artificial sugar if you have health issues.

We probably all need less added sugar.

Caffeine amount to caffeine free vary. Doctors say One, yes One caffeine drink a day. So that's one or two depending on strength.

I had said brush your teeth daily(after) to counter the sugar. But some say it's an old myth; that the acid will rot your teeth. Moderation. You can't go hog wild with sugar, acid or especially the bad artificial, (non-Stevia) sweeteners.

So now that you can get the best prices, for the best tastes for your pallette don't binge to the stuff. Just enjoy it sometimes. You do not want diabetes. We all need sugar; just very little of it.

The word on the street is Sam's cola, while NOT exact is BETTER. YMMV.

Others like Orange soda, Dr whatever (LOL some stores not all), Mnt Few variations, and MOST others not only have matches; but several close preferable variations, such as less sugary and less or more caffeine.

Note: I know Coke Zero is the only one that tastes a lot like like classic Coke and without the to-sweet sugar bomb (for most people); but that over priced crap is not Stevia. So please look up Sucralose see and Aspartame and their MANY different names. Taste is not the only thing.

If a formula is too sugary for you then don't forget you can cut-it with lots of ice or a tiny splash of water. Plus, it gets very slightly more watery as the carbonation releases.

Note: One of the Code Red store copies has the most caffeine and yet another has the least. The word on the street is the main variants tend to have the best copies. Citrus Drop. Some Orange sodas. The Dr.'s.(many store brands, NOT all the Dr.'s).

Not to mention; which are you going to copy. Like Mellow Yellow, Mountain Dew or Sun Drop? All are based on the same basic formula. So Citrus Drop sort of matches them all well, yet becomes its own. See?

YMMV of course, but Walgreens cancelled my order so I went down there, grabbed 7 cases (3 pepsi, 2 mountain dew, 1 root beer, 1 ginger ale) and talked to the manager. I showed him the price on my order and he discounted the $8 and change to bring the price down to $15.23. The cancellation was due to the original order being for 3 mountain dew but they only had two in stock. Now we're set for our party on the 4th.

Well I'm Texas. So that is probably why there's a difference.

I'm in Texas. And San Antonio at that. I tried the Walgreens deal for Pepsi last weekend when it was just 4 for $11 and change and had my order cancelled.
Going to try again when Walgreen opens up. Probably try a different location too.

I did read the other post. I actually saw the other post before I saw this one. And I tested out the prices myself using 3 packs of Pepsi, 3 Cherry Pepsi, and 1 to 3 Sunkist Orange. The prices I listed were all totals after taxes and included using the $3 coupon.
Try the Walgreens on Potranco west of the Costco. Ordered them this morning and picked them up a couple minutes later before receiving the email that my order was ready for pickup. They didn't have every 12-pack I ordered so they either substituted with 15-packs or let me choose another soda.
