Got 3x Mtn Dew Baja Blast + 1x Pepsi /w real sugar @ Kroger for $9 with digital coupon. Might be able to get it at Safeway as well 4x for $9 to $11 depending if they have a coupon too.
Kroger coupon is $2 off 3x Mtn Dew + other Pepsi owned flavors (except maybe Pepsi itself). And then there's a $2 off 3x Pepsi. But store limit 4 so if you want 8 gotta do two transactions.

So yes; it depends on individual tastes; but have you (and yours) done your own blind tests? Because not every store brand is the same. I am shocked; there are matches. Not all of them.
But guess what; so many people are reporting a perfect match or better on MOST (certainly not all) flavors/stores.
Dr. Pepper is one where almost everyone finds a particular store brand; that is the same or even better. Dr K works for me. I read Dr Check too. And while tastes do and can acclimate, we are not talking about large or any perceived differences in effect.
A lot of this is the odd bottle/can lable art leads folks to decide it can never match, and they have not tried a simple blind taste test, and more than one sip, over like a week. Or they decide it is a poor vs. authentic thing. So blind taste trials can decide for you the individual.
I can only tell you some (most) really match (a few really suck), and my pallette is very discerning.
And are most people going to notice fine differences. Probably not. Even more reason to try and see for yourself and buy whichever you want.

I understand; but "fake" may not be the best word. Even copy. Because any formula can be tweaked and they call Coke an original "invention"; but are these not just recipies?

Coke is Coke (classic and Zero, not 'Diet') and of course is their mix/recipe. Yet a few renditions after their cocaine, to be sure. World famously sold as a "secret" and a one of a kind "original". And unless you like Sam's cola actually better (many do) it is indeed one without exact taste match. The after taste really. If just exact taste is what you require, such as in other flavors then most DO match.
So if you're looking for a match you may need to pay more for Coke; or jump through hoops. But if most folks like SELECT Coke clones taste anyway then get that.Try more. GET WHAT YOU LIKE; but have you done your own BLIND tastes tests?
Because these are all just flavored carbonated water. Did anyone really "invent", orange soda, or limon/lime?
Did you know Fanta (orange) out ranked Sunkist in tests?
Did you know Fanta Orange in Italy is carbonated orange juice; different than in the states.
These so called "originals" are recipes of various, now artificial flavors.
It's the "diet" ones that include KNOWN, tested bad things. THEY ARE NOT WEIGHT LOSS COLAS!
There composition and your taste buds, sugar amounts and caffeine amounts are what matters, for the price(Slick Deal).
Some store brand items are good and some are not. And different (flipped) at each store, per item.
