This is not bad for an entry level machine, but TN is a deal breaker for many. I am expecting low $300s to get a 11th Gen i3/ IPS display / 8GB/ 256GB again soon.
I grabbed one not too long ago

4gb ram wtf at least 8gb might as well buy Chromebook
$8.95 for 4 gig matching brand ram is you want to be cheap on ebay if it is the Micron 3200 speed. 8 gigs is more than enough for regular stuff.

Yes, you can put more.

I also added a 500 SSD sata drive to my Acer IPS ebay deal with Ryzen processor.

The benchmarks on the 1115 are similar to those on the 1125 quad core (though certainly lower in some applications). I have 2 HPs with similar specs and they were frustratingly slow until I added more RAM. With the added RAM I haven't had any issues with basic browsing, streaming, spreadsheets, etc.
No, not even close. Passmark doesn't lie and dual-core chips with subpar GPU integration should no longer be considered, especially with a TN panel for more than $250 max

I grab this one not too long ago for 219. Nice laptop with IPS screen. Ebay Slickdeals acer deal.

So I was thinking when they make these models they keep the same screen since that might make production sense. But, yes, not IPS for that model.

Why they still make TN screens at 15.6 is a bit of shock to me.

You deserve better in life. Do not buy TN panels.

Display quality:

The 1920x1080 (1080P) display is good but not great. Using a 60hz TN (Not IPS) Innolux N156HGA-EA3 panel, the display maxes at 220 nits in brightness and is limited to 6-bit 262k color. This results in approximately 46% color coverage. For standard day to day use, it is more than adequate and it offers a very nice picture for the price with passable viewing angles and is very easy on the eyes; but if you're into heavy photo editing and/or require proper image color correction / higher color gamut you will need to seek out a notebook with a better display at a much higher price point.

Good info until you repped a refurbished sub-$250 laptop. That's a recipe for disaster

If was ever going to buy an Acer (not likely) then I'd much rather have this one for $329 Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB | 15.6" Full HD IPS Display | AMD Ryzen 3 3350U Quad-Core Mobile Processor | 4GB DDR4 | 128GB NVMe SSD | WiFi 6 | Backlit KB | FPR | Amazon Alexa | Windows 11 Home in S mode https://a.co/eRV0feB

It is brand new. I ran bios test and it was never used. These are not the chromebooks used at schools and then resold again.

You do not understand how refurbished works. Some companies sell a product for less money that is brand new but due to pricing rules with Amazon and other vendors have to sell as refurbished.

LIke Canon cameras. The refurished cameras are brand new.

But that does not work for all companies. Some refurbished is trashed used....

You have to know which companies sell new refurbished.

Knowing is better than ignorance.

Your experience is the exception and their is always a difference between new from factory (tested to manufacturer specifications) and open box/refurbished (who knows what happened to it after it was opened). Most of us don't have spare time or energy to gamble on non-new products from eBay.

This is an inferior CPU though it might do better on some games.

Not experience. You have to know which companies sell new refurbished versus thrashed refurbished.

If you read the reviews, nearly everyone got a brand new computer from Acer. I already bought other stuff.

Also that includes the western digital drives. Brand new. Not even a finger print on them. Sealed in plastic.

Plus 2 year warranty. Plus free returns.

Voted hot deal on SD.

Unless you're planning on using an external monitor, it is absolutely worth the extra money to get the $340 model with the IPS screen instead.

Cheap TN displays will make you hate life.
