Yes, everyone has $2K+ to drop on a guitar.

I bought one of these a couple years ago and it really is a fun guitar. Don't let the bullet line discourage you. It plays really well and sounds great too. I really didn't need to do anything to it except for use a little 0000 steel wool on the back of the neck as it had some rough spots. The scale length is great for people with small hands or young beginners.

Why buy a house, buy a mansion instead.

Great line of guitars. Jimmy Hendrix started on a Squire. Lots of YouTube videos how to sand the frets with various grades of sanding blocks to mimic the best guitars. It has the bones, just needs a little TLC.

Bought my uncle a Fender Squire Strat like 8 years ago and I was really impressed with every aspect of that guitar at its price point.

This is an awesome guitar for newer players. The thin neck and short scale make these super playable. This is an excellent deal.

I bought one of these a few years ago and I thought it was just okay, ended up selling it soon thereafter. Definitely worth more than this price but some of the components simply are cheap. Tuners weren't very good and fretwork was poor. Great for beginners, especially those with smaller hands. Unlikely to impress someone who usually plays more expensive instruments, such as Fender MIM (Mexican) models. Can be easily upgraded.

Kurt Cobain style. Nice! The MIJ Fender versions of these fetch a pretty penny. This is a great deal for a pretty guitar

I bought this same guitar in surf green last year and spent $125 or so having it set up and adding Fender tuners (it didn't seem to stay in tune very well out of the box). I now *love* playing it. I have a dozen or so guitars and I take this one with me when I travel for work.

As others have said, it's very light and I'd imagine would feel less intimidating to a newer player. Totally absolutely worth it at this price.

Hard pass...get yourself a Gibson,Fender USA or Rickenbacker, they will appreciate and you won't lose your desire to practice.
I agree in most cases. Buy a made in USA or Japan guitar (used if money is an issue). Unless you have the time, skill (and money) to make a $200 guitar play, feel, and sound like a quality guitar, yes, you will not want to play it, or you will want to sell it to get a "real" guitar. Buy once...cry once.

Also like you say, a USA/Japan guitar will tend to appreciate in value, especially if purchased used.

I have had cheap guitars that aren't good, for sure, but this is a cheap guitar that sounds and plays really well. I couldn't recommend it more highly for a newer player

Guys, would you suggest this for anyone who has never played guitar before to start? I'm not sure if I'll be able to invest a lot of time into that, but at least I'll try to make it. And if yes, what would you suggest to buy also? Some cheap setup? Thanks!

I'm going skiing this winter in Colorado and my friends and I plan on having a ski battle with the local preppies that live over there and this 80's looking guitar would be perfect for occasion.

Great starter guitar. A cheap setup would be a good idea (should include a re-stringing as well). Get a tuner, of course. A cheap amp - depending on your budget, something like this would be a good starter: Amazon.com: Fender Frontman 10G Guitar Amplifier : Musical Instruments [amazon.com]
