I got the Hardwood Reflections Hevea unfinished they sell at Home Depot. A guy on OfferUp was selling some 8footers with very minor damage on 2 corners for $90. I bought it, light sand, cut off sides to make it 72 inches, routered edges all around, and put Watco Butcher Block Oil Stain in Hazelnut color. All steps took me a total of 2 hours with the exception of the oil that has a 6 hour dry time between coats.

They sell finished tops as well if you don't want to DIY it.

edit: I've also had good experience with the Centerpointe brand at Lowe's

I purchased v1 in white a couple of weeks ago for 200 and setup was pretty straight forward. It's pretty heavy so may require 2 people to move around the house. I mounted a 72"x25"x1.5" butcher block countertop and the desk operates flawlessly with the solid wood top, dual 24 inch monitors, and printer scanner copier on it.

Have this. Seems very sturdy and durable. No concerns that it'll die any time soon (knock on wood)

Since it has a ~200lb weight cap, I built a top for it out of plywood and trim so I could control the weight of the desktop more than you can buying butcher block. Sanded and stained, you can't tell it's plywood.

Lower top weight means I can put heavier devices on with no concern of hitting weight cap.

Only thing to look out for is some oil that seeps from the telescoping legs. It goes away eventually, but don't put it on your priceless rug right out of the box.

Wish there was more info and reviews about the quality of this. It's a great deal but the 1 year warranty is terrible.

Curious to know what butcher block you got and how much? As I am also thinking about doing a dual 24" set up. Thanks in advance.

So was the original block at home depot much more than $90? I think I would do the finished tops possibly. Trying to see if cost would be the main factor between finished and unfinished

How often these go on sale? I will need one in September. Should I pull the trigger now?

Are these actually safe enough for a 6 to 8ft butcher block? I kinda want to do the Ikea hack where they have 2 drawers that supports the butcher block but are these stands actually better?

Math is your friend; add up the weight of the block plus everything you want to put on it, does that exceed 220 lbs? If so, then no it won't support it. If it's less, then yes.

I have a dual motor desk that is 55" wide with a top that cost ~$200. Mine goes on sale once in a blue moon but you have to watch it.

Get one of these stands, and use one of the Ikea tabletops. Incredibly well constructed, and super light and cheap too. In many different sizes. These are torsion box construction, so not solid. But high-tech and work great, unless you want to put multiple holes and hang heavy stuff.

I got the V1 version last sale as well for 199. Decent product. I thought about butcher block and it was too expensive and sort of though it's an over kill. I was looking for something heavy duty for my 3 ultrasharp 24" monitors and thinkpad workstation dock and ended up getting this Countertop from ikea. 74" x 25 5/8 " x 1 1/2" thickness. Heavy, about 61 lbs but totally solid and worth it for $74. Good thing with this top is you can drill the holes on your own to fit the exact lengths of stand. Other tops have pre drilled holes which I didn't like.

My guess is it should work with the IKEA 55' or 70' UPPSPEL tabletop, right?
